Why is reconnecting to oneself so imperative?

Reconnecting to oneself is imperative because forgetting oneself is the root of suffering. When I identify only with my thoughts, emotions, achievements, or failures, I become bound by what is temporary. "Aham Brahmasmi" reminds me that my deepest identity is not limited to the individual ego but is one with the universal consciousness. Reconnection, therefore, is not about becoming someone newβ€”it is about recognising what has always been true. From that recognition arises clarity, compassion, and an inner freedom that does not depend on external circumstances.

At Reconnect Retreat, let's explore this topic's depths through the lens of Vedanta and daily learnings.

There are limited spots at this retreat, so please book yours today.

A heartfelt thank you to every one of you who came together to celebrate the blissful evening of Guru Purnima. πŸ™πŸ’›

We are truly blessed to be surrounded by so many loving, kind-hearted souls who support one another and shine light on each other's path of purification and devotion.

A special thank you to everyone who offered their seva with such love:

πŸ’› Himesh and Sherali – thank you for your incredible effort and for so beautifully preparing and packing the prasad.

β˜• Shireesha, Madhavi, and Divya – thank you for your selfless devotion and humble service in serving chai and snacks to our community.

😌 Awesome Meluke for wonderful welcoming and signing people into the space.

🌸 Rebecca, Sam, and Dana – your creativity, wisdom, and loving attention transformed the hall into a sacred temple space.

🎢 To everyone who shared the stageβ€”Shireesha, Devatma, Sarita, Phil, Monique, Govinda, and Harbβ€”thank you for offering your devotion so wholeheartedly. Your sincerity and purity inspired us all and illuminated our shared path.

Now, with our Guru's blessings, we look forward to continuing this journey of pure devotion by bringing like-minded people together through kirtan and the other beautiful gatherings we share.

Our next Kirtan will be on Saturday, 5 September 2026, celebrating Sri Krishna Janmashtami. As always, it will be a donation-based event, welcoming everyone with an open heart. You can book your spot via Eventbrite link - https://srikrishna2026.eventbrite.com.au

At Guru Purnima, we received approximately $1,800 in donations. Around $1,100 was used to cover the costs of the event. The remaining funds have already been allocated towards the budget for our next Kirtan. Any surplus after that will be donated to a local food drive to support those who need it most.

Thank you for your generosity, your trust, and your willingness to come together in the spirit of kirtan.

May we continue walking this path with humility, devotion, and open hearts.

With love and gratitude,

Ajit πŸ™πŸ’›

About Guru Purnima

Guru Purnima is a sacred day of reflection, gratitude, and renewal for the spiritual seeker. Just as the calendar year begins on 1 January, Guru Purnima marks the spiritual New Year for those walking the inner path.

It is a time to pause and reflect on the year gone by β€” to review one’s inner journey, acknowledge growth, and contemplate the lessons learned. It is an opportunity to recognise the blessings, wisdom, and transformation that knowledge has brought into our lives.

Guru Purnima also invites us to look ahead with renewed clarity and intention: to recommit ourselves to living with awareness, purpose, and sincerity in the coming year.

On this special evening, we gather in gratitude for the timeless wisdom passed down through generations of masters and teachers who have preserved and shared this sacred knowledge with the world.

Let us come together in celebration, reflection, devotion, and community.

What to Bring

Please bring anything that will help you feel comfortable and settled during the evening, such as:

* A cushion or meditation pillow
* A yoga mat
* A blanket or shawl for warmth
* Your favourite tea or coffee cup

We look forward to sharing this beautiful evening of devotion, music, and community.

🀍 Organised by: A collective of humble Kirtan enthusiasts and devotees of Bhakti Yoga from across Melbourne, coming together in the spirit of seva, devotion, and community.

Dear community members,

It is truly an honour to co-host this special evening with some really special souls, revered musicians and kirtanists of Melbourne.

We will take our time to introduce them one by one over the next few days.

At this occasion, we would like to welcome our dear Kirtanist Govinda.

Govinda was raised in a small village of Godawari Kunda,Nepal, where a lifelong love of devotional music and seva began in childhood. He is deeply grateful to the Melbourne Kirtan community for embracing and nurturing his journey. Today, Govinda shares kirtan as an offering, creating spaces where people can reconnect with themselves through sacred sound, silence, and community. His gatherings weave together mantra, music, reflection, and heartfelt presence, welcoming people from all backgrounds. His path is guided by a sincere love for yoga, meditation, and the timeless wisdom of the Vedic tradition.

There are not many spots left for this special evening and it's simply donation based. So please book your spot as soon as possible.
