Autumn feels for this gorgeous family. Big Love Elopement captured all the magical moments and the stunning lighting of the autumn day for Tim and Sally's elopement.
The foraged vibrant pink jewels of a friend's peppercorn tree were a last-minute addition to the floral mix. They added another textural element and fluidity to the arrangements. Given the edible nature of the pink peppercorns, they were a safe inclusion among the cake florals.
The peppercorn tree is just one of many trees that i have a greater appreciation for ; it's the weeping branches of this evergreen tree that bring a sense of joy, its the way the aromatic leaves sway in the breezes, the tree's dainty flowers are fragrant, subsequently developing into green berries that mature into this stunning amaranth hue. There are so many beautiful aspects that spark my sense of curiosity.

Autumn wedding flowers can provide a rich, colour palette that extends beyond orange hues into jewel-toned colours or earthy neutrals
For Lana & Brendan, who selected Moody Earth Tones featuring shades of burgundy, red, rust, and chocolate brown. It was such a wonderful colour palette to work with, I enjoyed selecting blooms that would both complement and be interchangeable with each dress’s distinctive shade

Autumn weddings offer a picturesque backdrop for beautiful colour palettes.
Recently connecting with friends over coffee at Mt Duneed Estate, I recalled one of my favourite autumnal colour palette combinations for a wedding there. The blending of botanicals of purple and orange hues created a playful and eclectic vibe, infused with a lovely warmth.

Dahlias evoke a sense of nostalgia for me, recalling rich and solid colours that my mum grew, however, the varieties now have blossomed into a kaleidoscope of color that evoke a sense of joy and playfulness.
When a message sending love and congratulations is being sent, what better way than a selection of blooms in bright hues including heart shaped anthurium flowers which hold happiness and abundance in the language of flowers
Choosing colors in the right tones is a fundamental aspect of floral art that bring a color palette together, transforming a chaotic selection of hues into a harmonious and intentional design. While hue refers to the color family (for example pink), tone refers to the saturation, depth, and lightness
Balancing these tones is key to ensuring colors complement each other cohesively, rather than striving for dominance, which is a principal guiding my designs at A Flourish of Flowers.

However, acquiring a little information can increase our curiosity and appreciation.
A splash of colour in this selection of Leucospermums and accompanying botanicals compensates for today’s grey skies and soaking rain.
These vibrant flowers, also referred to as firewheels, originate from South Africa, yet thrive in the Australian climate. They belong to the Proteaceae family, which also includes Australian natives like banksia, grevillea and waratah.

Living and working on the Great Ocean Road, I have the privilege of exploring the beautiful bush and beach surroundings, sometimes on a daily basis, and immersing myself in the changing seasons. I am constantly amazed by the resilience and beauty of wildflowers, which thrive in unique locations and survive without human intervention.
The has gifted us with a wonderful season of native orchids over the past couple of months and it’s been a joy to rediscover these resilient beauties with fresh curiosity.
I think this quote encourages us to embrace a life of uncomplicated joy, flexibility, and resilience; much like a wildflower. It reminds me to appreciate my own unique story even with the challenges, adapt to life’s changes with grace, and find joy and gratitude in the simple moments of each day.
Dear Floral Tribe, consider gifting yourself this week:
* the gift of slow breathing …it’s the body’s mechanism to regulate our nervous system, nurturing mindfulness and a greater connection with our surroundings

How quickly the week has passed, filled with opportunities for growth and connection. Does anyone else find the pace of life accelerates at times? Nevertheless, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the work of Amy’s Foundation and its vital work in creating a safer bike riding environment in Australia. The Amy’s Great Ocean Road Gran Fondo is a testament to the power of community, held in memory of Amy Gillett. The 2025 Amy Gran Fondo (held last weekend) was joined with the UCI Gran Fondo World Series and together the participants enjoyed the ride along the iconic It provides a stunning backdrop for the event.
Thank you O2 Events for again providing the opportunity to to create and deliver all the podium bouquets to present to the winners of the different race categories. This year I selected waratahs and complementary Australian botanicals for a vibrant splash of colour for this year’s international event.

There are moments when hitting the pause button is crucial, and that’s what I’ve decided to do for a couple of days.
Rest is not a reward we earn, but rather a vital fuel source that we intentionally choose to replenish, especially when life gets overwhelming and demands we keep pushing forward.
Pausing can be a game-changer in maintaining momentum and resilience for the journey ahead. Taking time to mindfully observe life’s happenings without judgment, allowing space for self-care, and intentionally reflecting on what truly matters.
When I choose to slow down, I rediscover my sense of curiosity and wonder, and remind myself of what brings me joy.
Dear Floral Tribe, I encourage you to factor in a pause, no matter how small, and give yourself permission to breathe, reflect, and reconnect with what matters most to you.
