Family-centric wedding celebrations can go one of two ways: either double the stress due to the unrealistic expectations of how young children should behave or like an imperfectly perfect, messy and joyous experience for all involved.
And one of the biggest factors that makes the difference between these two results, I believe, is the way the soon-to-be-married couple handles things before and during their wedding.
In the planning, Lindsey and Will chose a venue that is kid-friendly, with lots of different seating options (chairs, sure, but also blankets, cushions etc.), somewhere to play (sandpit & tyre swing) and they made sure there were lots of different hand-held food and drinks available.
It changed the game.
Lindsey and Will also asked me to make a little announcement at the beginning of their ceremony along the lines of: "Lindsey and William understand how kids will be kids and donβt expect the little ones to be quiet. So please feel comfortable
to do what you need to, so they feel comfortable too."
How brilliant is that?
Much love,
