To our beautiful South African Place community ❤️

They say when one door closes, another opens — and while this chapter is incredibly emotional for me, I truly believe the next chapter for The South African Place is opening with the right person.

After so many years of pouring my heart into this little piece of South Africa in Adelaide, the time has come for me to hand over the keys. From 1 July, The South African Place will officially be under new ownership.

It brings me great comfort and excitement to introduce Megs as the new owner of the shop. Many of you may already know her from Aunty Megs Kitchen in the city. Megs has a genuine love for South African food, culture, and community, and I truly believe she will continue the heart behind what made this shop so special.

For me, The South African Place was never just a business. It became a home away from home for so many people — a place filled with laughter, stories in Afrikaans, rugby chats, braai advice, homesick tears, and so much love. The support this community has shown my family over the years is something I will carry with me forever.

While it is bittersweet to close this chapter, I know the shop is being placed in caring and capable hands, and I am excited to see it continue to grow and serve the South African community here in Australia.

Thank you for every visit, every message, every order, every cup of coffee, and every conversation over the years. You helped build something truly special.

Please join me in welcoming Megs to The South African Place family as she begins this exciting new journey on 1 July ❤️

We will be open today on ANZAC Day.
We take a moment to honour and remember the service and sacrifice of those who have served — Lest we forget.
Our kitchen will be firing as usual, serving up your favourite South African flavours. If you’re out and about, come in, grab a meal, and enjoy some good food with great company.

Dear valued patrons, Aunty Meg’s Kitchen will be taking a short break once the Adelaide Fringe wraps up (23/03 to 11/04)…. I’m taking a little time to rest, recharge and enjoy a short vacation so I can return refreshed and ready to serve you all with our yummy South African meals, desserts and delicacies ……. “But don’t worry, I wont leave you hanging”….. For our Easter specials I’ll have Pickled Fish available. As I’m only making a small batch this year, please make sure to pre-order to avoid missing out….. Thank you all for your incredible support.
