Be a Guest at Your Own Event.

You can absolutely cater your own event but do you really want to spend days doing it?
There is the menu planning.
The shopping beforehand.
The food preparation.The cooking.
Working out when everything needs to go into and out of the oven.
Serving the food.
And the dreaded clean up.

Somewhere in the middle of all of that, you are also supposed to enjoy yourself. Your guests have come to spend time with you.

One of the things I love most about catering is giving the host the chance to actually be part of their own event. Have the conversation. Enjoy a drink. Catch up with people you haven’t seen for a while. Make the memories instead of spending half the party in the kitchen.
The value of catering isn’t only the food. Sometimes the greatest value is simply getting your time back.
So next time you’re planning something, ask yourself one question:
Do I want to cater the event,or do I want to enjoy it?

What Happens Before Your Guests Arrive?

When you see a beautifully presented platter of food at an event, you’re usually seeing the very end of the process.

What you don’t always see are the hours that happened beforehand.
The conversations that building trust and connection with the client.
Planning the menu.
Working out quantities.
Arranging front of house staff.
Sourcing ingredients.
Shopping.
Preparing.
Cooking.
Organising.
Packing.
Transporting.
Setting everything up and cleaning up after the event.
And making sure the food not only tastes beautiful but also looks the way it should when your guests arrive.

There is a lot of work behind what can sometimes look wonderfully simple.
And that’s exactly the point.
My job is to deal with the complicated part so that your party feels easy.
When you invite people into your home, workplace or venue, I don’t want you thinking about what needs to happen next in the kitchen.

I want you thinking about your guests.
Enjoying the conversation.
Celebrating.
And knowing the food is being taken care of.

That’s part of the value of professional catering that people don’t always see.
It isn’t simply what appears on the plate.
It’s everything that happened beforehand to make sure you can enjoy what happens afterwards.

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of collaborating with Darryl Catlin from Catlin Wines On Magill catering for a 50th birthday which according to my client was a resounding success!

Darryl has created this wonderful family (and dog) friendly, quirky space on Magill Rd complete with pool table and Chesterfields that's also suitable for corporate stand up events, and great for parties for up to 90 guests!

There's no kitchen as such, so heating and plating food in a carport with only the fairy lights to go by was challenging, particularly when it got dark, but we got there!

Despite this, my girls and I loved the adventure but I'll have to remember to bring a spotlight next time!

It is truly unique and well worth a visit to taste some of Darryl's amazing wine!

Happy Tuesday everyone!
For all of you Classical Music lovers, this will be an evening to remember...

"In these uncertain times wouldn’t it be wonderful to turn back to an earlier, more gracious era? Imagine going back two hundred years to Paris or Vienna, to sit in an elegant salon listening to sublime music.
It can be done, without time travel."
Composer Julian Cochran had a dream to recreate such a salon in Adelaide for the enjoyment of music lovers. Hence the North Adelaide Baroque Hall.
Konstantin Shamray, a pianist who plays with the bravura of Liszt, the soul of Chopin and the romance of Tchaikovsky will present an exclusive soirée in the Baroque Hall on 30 June at 6.30pm, playing the music that he particularly loves.
Described as an exhilarating performer with faultless technique and fearless command of the piano, Konstantin has performed in Europe, Canada and Australia, always to acclaim. For now his home is in Adelaide where he is a great favourite among local audiences.
It will be an evening to relish; superb wine, sophisticated canapés carefully created by Amuse la Bouche Catering, and you, dressed for the occasion!
Proceeds from this recital go to Radio 5MBS a community radio station dedicated to fine music. Konstantin is a 5MBS 99.9FM member and has given it much support.
