A small confession ✝️
When I am on the microphone, I do not read from a script.
I do not hold cue cards.
I do not glance at a phone or a folded piece of paper.
Ever.
Introductions, names, stories, transitions, direction for guests. All of it lives in my head, not in my hands.
My hands are reserved for two things only.
The microphone.
And connection.
I need them free. Unrestricted. Able to move, gesture, emphasise, and communicate properly. Presence matters. Energy matters. Trust matters.
That said, I am still human.
So here is the real secret.
At every wedding, without fail, I write the bride and groom’s names on the palm of my left hand.
Just in case the adrenaline hits.
Just in case the room is loud.
Just in case my brain decides to test me mid evening.
Preparation without crutches.
Confidence without arrogance.
And a quiet safety net no one ever sees.
That is how I work.
