Capturing your family or wedding day in my mind is not simply about just getting someone to just do it - because you may as well get Aunty Joan to do the job and, well if she hits the sherry, who knows how the images will turn out like?! Okay - going off track - but honestly, it's in my nature to want to get to know you a little so that I can capture you in the best way that is you. I love using t

he sun to create beautiful warm and gorgeous shots that you will love. Shooting outdoors is my favourite place to be as it makes the photos more interesting and generally children are more relaxed. With the days moving so fast, life seems to fly by in a wink. Which is what I love about capturing families over the years - holding onto that moment, that sweet age or precious memory in someone's life. And I believe it's my job to create that for you.

Seeing not only a newbie mum thriving in motherhood is a sweet thing. It was beautiful to see my cousin Bella and fiance', Harry plus his grandparents all sooo excited to be around Freddy! Only 4 months old he gave us those sneeky smiles every now and then but took it all in his stride - clearly a relaxed little one!! Can't wait to share more!

As I searched for shots of me and my kids I stumbled across this shot of my mum and the kids as they had a break in Paris. I loved this time with mum. She happily took my 2 kids over to England to meet me and then we spent a few days in Paris before she met Dad in Italy, before returning to Germany for us all to depart together home. Mum was a wonderful traveller, she did her research, she incorporated tea breaks for recovery each day 😆 she loved to visit interesting places and of course she was driven by the search for the fabric store! She was easy going and always loved a glass of wine and a good laugh! Mum didn't go for super flashy, she was happy to be thrifty and smart with her money so she could do regular overseas trips and I too hope to follow in her footsteps and see all the places my heart also desires!

This next month is all about Motherhood and stepping into the image! I'll be running some sweet mini sessions all through May for those who wish to get some lovely shots of them with their kids (or their mums!).
Motherhood is a beautiful thing but it's also relentless! You wear so many hats, and run so many jobs but the connection you get to create with your kids really can be a beautiful thing (and I know it's not always beautiful - it gets messy too!). I love capturing mums with their kids and just being themselves. Too many times we put others ahead of us and it's lovely to be in the shot for once! (And not be taking a selfie!)

Last week I was there to photograph the opening of the new Elizabeth Gidget Foundation House. This beautiful foundation support new mums & dads as they navigate their way through post natal depression and anxiety. This is something close to my heart as I reflect back on 2004 after the birth of my first and how I really struggled for at least a year. It felt like motherhood was the worst decision of my life and I honestly didn't know what to do with myself or my beautiful baby. And sadly I even went to the doctor and to the Child & Youth Health and talked to them and they didn't pick up on it, only to send me on my way saying it will get better. It was a period where I felt very alone and it pushed me out of my comfort zone into a small hell. So to see one of these homes being established here in SA is just the beginning of something beautiful. My only wish is that there will be 10 more before long.

Last week I had a work experience student with me for a couple of days and I gave her some challenges, one of which was a headshot shoot where I captured her and she did me. In between rain showers we captured some fun shots around the Marion Cultural library where we could play with reflections and interesting backgrounds & textures! It was a lot of fun and I have to say I was pretty impressed with some of the shots she captured of me! Now I have some updated headshots for my library! Thank you Tabitha!

👉Flick through the shots to see Veronica's beautiful reaction to Melwyn proposing! This photoshoot left me on a high - to witness watching someone proposing and capturing the beautiful reaction was gold - pure gold! And what I loved was Veronica's beautiful excitement as the reality of the moment sunk in! ☺️

A while ago I captured one of my daughters good friends as she set about to launch her career post uni. It's always a pleasure to work with someone you have known for years and working with Lara was no different. We played with different locations and posing ideas to create a mix of options for her ideal headshot. I'm not sure which one she chose as her final profile shot but she got the job! Well done Lara!!
