What an exciting couple of weeks these October school holidays have been!

We started things off with an outdoor Chalk Art Workshop, making the most of some questionable weather and welcoming back some familiar faces. Despite the conditions, we had a fantastic time creating some amazing chalk art, really bringing some colour to Findon Front Courtyard!

In the second week, we travelled the world through food with the brilliant Claire and her Around the World Bites Cooking Experience!

The kids got hands-on with food, exploring delicious bites from across the globe, including Japanese Onigiri, Mexican Burritos, French Crepes and an Aussie classic, Fairy Bread!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make these school holidays so much fun. We loved seeing all the creativity, curiosity and learning! 😊🙌

Last Friday, Kate Redden from Adelaide University presented to our community members, sharing some details about a clinical trial for student-led health coaching that has now become a FREE Health Coaching service at Adelaide University Health Clinics.

The session included a summary of national guidelines for nutrition and exercise, information about different student-led health services available at Adelaide University and all attendees got the chance to reflect on an area of their health they would like to create change in.

📣 Free Biodiversity & Pollinator-Friendly Gardening Workshop 🐝

Want to turn your garden into a haven for native bees, butterflies and birds? Join us for a hands-on workshop full of practical, easy ideas you can take home and use straight away.

You'll hear from Registered Landscape Architect Eleanor Hughes from Mission Possible Group, Nat Giffney from Green Adelaide, along with other local gardening and sustainability enthusiasts from the Mission Possible Community Group.

We'll cover:
🌿 Why biodiversity matters in our urban gardens
🦋 Creating habitat for native pollinators and helpful insects
🌸 Choosing local native plants for year-round food and shelter
💧 Water-wise gardening for a changing climate
🐞 Natural pest control and using fewer pesticides

Thinking about making a change to your health, but not sure where to start? Come along this Friday for a free, interactive morning with the Adelaide University Healthy Choices team.

You'll hear how the Healthy Choices program works, learn a little of the science behind building habits that stick, and leave with one clear goal of your own and a first step to take. Stay afterwards for morning tea and a chat with the Ageing Well team at our information stall.

Oriental Martial Arts Academy SA are wrapping up Term 3 tonight at the Findon Community Centre! They have had a successful term committed to empowering the community through traditional martial arts training focused on confidence, wellbeing, and self-development.

Are you Interested in Oriental Martial Arts?

The Academy will continue Term 4 at the Findon Community Centre from Tuesday, 13 October, and all are welcome!

Oriental Martial Arts Academy SA provides supportive Korean martial arts training focused on confidence, wellbeing, self-care, and personal development.

Hapkido for Over 50s
Hapkido focuses on balance, flexibility, coordination, awareness, and practical self-defence, making it suitable for mature students. Training helps improve mobility, confidence, focus, and overall wellbeing.

Taekwondo for Kids, Teens & Adults
Taekwondo develops fitness, flexibility, self-defence, confidence, discipline, resilience, and respect in a positive and supportive environment.

Weekly Tuesday Classes
• Kids Taekwondo: 5:45pm–6:15pm
• Teens & Adults Taekwondo: 5:45pm–6:30pm
• Over 50s Hapkido: 6:30pm

Term 3 for the Findon Sew and Craft Group has been busy!

The group has continued to develop and share their craft skills, including crocheting, sewing and knitting. They have also remained actively involved in supporting local charity initiatives.

The group connected with Village CO. to support new mothers in need by sewing and donating essential breast pads. They have also continued their connection with 4 SA Kids INC. creating and donating self-care bags for children and young people in need.

Term 4 will commence on Monday, 12 October 26, and sessions will continue weekly on Mondays from 9:30am.
