Meet our Lucy who started with us by doing work experience many years ago. She now manages and is team leader at .
Here’s what she had to say:

“I first started with AFH as a very shy, quiet 17 year old. At that time I wasn’t even looking for a job - I did some work experience through school to genuinely see what it was like to work in a florist. Connie took a chance on me and hired me, I was shocked and so excited.

I have loved flowers for my whole life. My grandma has the biggest, most beautiful garden and I’ve grown up helping her plant all kinds of flowers and plants. Each year we plant so many poppies and sweet peas, and for that reason they are some of my favourite flowers.

Four years later and I’m still here, working with the best people. Connie, Pete and Mina have watched me grow up into the person I am today, and I would absolutely not be where I am without them.

I’ve spent most of my time at our parade store and have gone from being the quietest person in the room, to someone who loves having a chat with anyone and everyone who walks through the door.

It’s not just the flowers I love about working at AFH - its the people. I’ve met some amazing girls along the way and made friendships I’ll always be grateful for.” 🤍

Introducing Nicola Lyell …and how lucky are we to have had her as part of our team for all these great years! Nicola who is our team leader at The Flower Depo says : “8 years has taken me through The Parade, Hutt, Web, helping behind the scenes at AFH, to the Depo on Rundle Mall.
Rundle has its challenges with wild weather & quirky interesting characters.
My favourite part is the early morning setup when it’s quiet. Creating something beautiful from what the season has to offer, admiring the bees that visit us in every season.
Dahlias, the colours & textures, I’m obsessed!
Witnessing the kindness, people stopping to buy flowers for someone who needs brightening.
The Mall embraces every festive season with real energy, which I love.
To the amazing team that support each other on the crazy busy days, I’m grateful for you all!”
