After much consideration, we have made the difficult decision that The Courtyard of Curiosities will take a fallow year and not operate during Adelaide Fringe in 2027.
The Courtyard has grown so quickly over the past four years. The 2026 season was enormous for us, and while the journey has been extraordinary, delivering the venue is also a significant undertaking.
With the Migration Museum temporarily unavailable while it undergoes conservation work, this planned pause will give us time to develop a strong, sustainable plan for the venue’s future.
Glastonbury takes a periodic fallow year to allow the land to rest and regenerate, and that’s how we’re thinking about 2027: a chance to pause, replenish and prepare for what comes next.
Over the past few months, Britt has been travelling through Europe, attending festivals and building relationships with artists, producers and presenters. Along the way, it has been pretty incredible to hear just how far word has travelled about our special little artist hub in Adelaide. We’re immensely proud of the reputation we’ve built together.
Finally, an enormous thank you to our venue partners —the Migration Museum, State Library of South Australia and Art Gallery of South Australia — and to every artist who has shared their brilliant work with us. Thank you to our incredible team, who have brought their beautiful hearts and energy to the space; to everyone who has worked tirelessly behind the scenes; and to our sponsors and supporters: Novatech, Visualcom, Mischief Brew, City of Adelaide and Adelaide Fringe.
And to our audiences: thank you for filling our spaces, taking a chance on new and adventurous work, and returning year after year. Your curiosity, generosity and enthusiasm have helped make The Courtyard what it is.
We genuinely couldn’t have built The Courtyard without all of you.
