Accountability shouldn’t be something people are afraid of.
When accountability becomes connected to blame, shame or punishment, people naturally want to protect themselves.
But what if we created the conditions for accountability to mean something different?
An opportunity to understand what happened.
To hear how others have been affected.
To take responsibility.
To learn.
To repair.
And to work out what needs to happen differently next time.
That’s a big part of how we approach Restorative Practice.
It isn’t about removing consequences, lowering expectations or avoiding difficult conversations.
Quite the opposite.
Our Explicit Restorative Practice Framework gives people practical language, tools and processes for having those conversations in a way that holds high expectations alongside high support.
Because people can be held accountable without creating more harm.
And when we change the way we respond to mistakes and conflict, we begin to change what becomes possible afterwards.
Growth. Learning. Responsibility. Repair.
We’ll be exploring all of this and much more at our upcoming 2-Day Restorative Practice Training on the Gold Coast.
