„ A musical comes home “ – people expect under this motto and with full tension the Salzburg première of the worldwide success ”The Sound Of Music”. In 1959 the American author´s team Richard Rodgers (music) and Oscar Hammerstein (song texts) wrote for the New York Broadway a piece of music history which should start at latest after the filming with Julie Andrews in 1965 a triumphal procession around the world. Meanwhile the songs ”edelweiss”, „ micron Favorite Things “ and ”Do-Re-Mi” became international Evergreens. Now in a new translation the land theater presents the history of Maria Augusta Kutschera which is sent as a beginning candidate from the abbey mountain Nonn to the motherless family Trapp to pay attention to seven children of the overtaxed father. From the employer-employee relationship becomes - after initial obstacles - in the end, love. This history full charm and heart takes place in 1936 in the shade of the ”anschluss” of Austria with the German empire which get the family to leave her native country escaping from the National Socialist: the foundation-stone for an international career as legendary „ Trapp Family Singer “, as should turn out later. Directors Andreas Gergen and Christian Struppeck lay with her conversion big value on the authenticity of the political background without, besides, the warmth of the love story to lose. Together with director Dr. Carl Philip von Maldeghem they put together from more than 600 applications a top ensemble of international musical stars, to all at the head of Uwe innkeeper (”Elisabeth” Theater an der Wien) as a Georg von Trapp and Wietske van Tongeren (”Rebecca” Raimundtheater, Vienna) as Maria.
