The plays an iconic role in Városliget’s everyday life.

The restaurant –uniquely in Europe -was built on the Island of the Varosliget’s Lake, and opened its doors on July 16, 1989. It didn’t take much time and the Robinson has become the number one hangout spot of the citizens, the celebrities and the tourists, who brought the news of excellent cuisine and the fabulous venue around the world after their visit.

This library is phenomenal and many don’t know that some of Budapest’s most beautiful reading rooms are open to the public here. This library is housed in what was once the Wenckheim Palace, which was built in the late 1880s to the designs of Artúr Meinig. We started our tour to the right of the main public entrance where we saw a fantastic caryatid by sculptor János Fadrusz; these sculpted miners looks like they’re holding the entire building on their shoulders. In 1927 the Budapest City Council purchased the Palace, which is a very fine example of Hungarian Neo-Baroque architecture, and in 1931 the library moved in. Although the building suffered damage, huge renovations to the Metropolitan Szabó Ervin Library have restored it beautifully.
