Where Are You?’ – My father’s hands work the vines, but his mind wanders elsewhere. Dementia steals recognition, turning the familiar into the strange. It is an impossible homecoming to a version of himself that exists only in photographs and memory.

‘Where Are You?’ – Mein Vater arbeitet im Weinberg, doch seine Gedanken sind woanders. Die Demenz raubt die Wiedererkennung und macht das Vertraute fremd. Es ist ein unmögliches Heimkehren zu einer Version seiner selbst, die nur noch in Fotografien und Erinnerungen existiert.
Ich bin tief bewegt, dass diese sehr persönliche Arbeit als einer der Gewinner des OpenWalls Spotlight 2026 vom British Journal of Photography ausgewählt wurde. Danke an , und für die Anerkennung dieser Geschichte.

Blok 30 in Neu-Belgrad. Ich mag den Kontrast zwischen dem weißen Sichtbeton und dem Coca-Cola-Schild da oben. Ein Stück Architekturgeschichte, das Ende der 70er fertiggestellt wurde. Vom Kamerastandpunkt zum fertigen Bild.

Der Prozess beinhaltet die präzise Auswahl aus umfangreichen Bildserien, um die strukturelle Essenz eines Ortes in einem einzigen Frame festzuhalten. Vom ersten Kontakt vor Ort bis zur finalen Schwarz-Weiß-Ausarbeitung.

The process involves precise selection from extensive series to capture the structural essence of a place in a single frame. From initial on-site contact to the final black-and-white processing.

It was with deep sadness that I learned of the passing of the great artist VALIE EXPORT. It was an honor for me to have photographed her several times over the years for the Kunsthaus Bregenz. Her visionary work and fearless spirit have profoundly shaped the art world and inspired generations. Her presence and her work will remain unforgettable.

Rest in peace, VALIE EXPORT.

Mit tiefer Trauer habe ich vom Ableben der großen Künstlerin VALIE EXPORT erfahren. Es war mir eine Ehre, sie über die Jahre hinweg mehrfach für das Kunsthaus Bregenz fotografieren zu dürfen. Ihre visionäre Arbeit und ihr unerschrockener Geist haben die Kunstwelt nachhaltig geprägt und Generationen inspiriert. Ihre Präsenz und ihr Werk werden unvergessen bleiben.
