One of those rare nights when the cold makes its presence felt at Oper Klosterneuburg. ❄️ I truly admire those magnificent singers who perform under any weather conditions to give us an evening of pleasure and music. 🎶 Last night, they were extraordinary in a very special way — perhaps because they were battling the forces of nature. 🌬️👏

This is the second production I’ve seen this year at an Open Air, this time at Oper Steinbruch — The Flying Dutchman. The staging by Philipp Krenn and the set design by Momme Hinrichs were particularly striking. Vocally, the standout for me was the phenomenal Elisabeth Teige as Senta. Overall, a beautiful production. Bravo to everyone involved!

A magnificent triumph at Operklosterneuburg, where my husband, Peter Edelmann, is the Artistic Director 🎭. The singers, the orchestra, the staging, and the costumes completely amazed and enchanted the audience ✨. Maestro Francesco Cilluffo led the brilliant Philharmonie Orchestra with passion and precision 🎼🎻.

This unforgettable Tosca by Giacomo Puccini is a must-see 🇮🇹🎶. Thank you to all my dear friends and family who came to see it, and to the knowledgeable, elegant audience that defines this prestigious Austrian festival 🙏🇦🇹.

While all the soloists were exceptional, I must mention the phenomenal Federica Vitali — in my view, the best Tosca since her debut, and for decades to come 🌟. Fabián Lara impressed with his beautiful, expressive voice 🎤, and Serban Vasile delivered a masterclass as Scarpia — intense, powerful, unforgettable 🔥.

My adorado Leonard Prinsloo showed once again what it means to truly serve music through theatre 🎭💖. Hans Kudlich’s staging was striking, bold, and full of depth, while Karin Fritz’s costumes dazzled not just with their beauty but also their dramatic force 👗⚡️ (and yes… “the costume makes the monk” — is that how you say it in English too? 😄).

The chorus? Absolutely magnificent! 👏👏👏

Introducing Cassandra Doyle! Australian-German mezzo-soprano Cassandra Doyle is currently based in Essen for the 2024/25 season as a member of Opernstudio NRW, a collaboration between Aalto Musiktheater Essen, Oper Dortmund, Oper Wuppertal, and Musiktheater im Revier Gelsenkirchen. Her operatic roles this season include Flora Bervoix in Verdi’s La Traviata, Hänsel in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel, Tisbe in Rossini’s La Cenerentola, Blumenmädchen in Wagner’s Parsifal, and Mrs. Moreno in Mazzoli’s The Listeners.

In 2024, she was selected for the Young Singers Project at the Salzburg Festival, where she made her professional opera debut in Prokofiev’s The Gambler.

At the 2023 IFAC Handa Australian Singing Competition, Cassandra was awarded the Institut Canadien d’Art Vocal (Montreal) scholarship, along with the Nell Pascal Award, Nicole Car Prize, and Zeke Solomon Award to attend the Israeli Opera’s Meitar Opera Studio. In 2022, she won second prize at the Sydney International Song Prize (Joan Sutherland and Richard Bonynge Foundation), and in 2024, she received the 2MBS Fine Music Sydney Stefan Kruger Scholarship.

As a concert soloist, Cassandra has performed with ensembles including the Opera Australia Orchestra, Willoughby Symphony Orchestra, Radio Community Chest Orchestra, Orchestra of the Sydney Conservatorium, and Bach Akademie Australia. She holds a Bachelor of Music from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where she studied with Maree Ryan and Rowena Cowley.
