The Women’s Museum is not a footnote to Arabian history — it is the history. Court-certified property deeds since 1909, Poetry written by women, Artefacts that carry decades of resilience and voice and quiet strength.
Long before the modern conversation about women’s empowerment began, Emirati and Arab women were running businesses, owning land, raising poets and shaping communities. This museum proves it — document by document.
For the culturally curious traveller, this is the visit that reframes the narrative. That reminds you that covering oneself was never a measure of power — or the lack of it.

WHAT’s FOR DINNER ? Having a nice break in the desert with a fresh sandwich, a simple heartwarming meal, a glass of cold water and a cup of freshly brewed coffee — what else ? A perfect way to enhance your experience. As a mother, food is always a way to unite and connect family and friends. We enjoyed these moments as much as the drive and the scenery. PURPOSE of our Saudi Exploration in Apr2026.
Some destinations stay with you.
28 April 26 — we finally reached the N731A wreckage. A plane that came down in 1959 and has been resting in the sand ever since. 66 years.
The drive out was stunning. But arriving was something else entirely. Standing there, surrounded by nothing but dunes in every direction, you feel the weight of what a short landing here meant.
These were the pioneers who mapped the desert for oil exploration — the year before, in 1958, oil had just been discovered in Abu Dhabi. This wreck is a quiet symbol of a transformation that turned the Arabian Peninsula into a global power.

This is not an advertisement - it’s just the best fridge I could have hoped to have for this trip. Since my driving is just acceptable, I compensate with providing the food. I love to call myself the « cantinière ». We all have a role and meals are not essential but they are a social way to keep the group together.
I can be creative when it comes to meal prep for desert expedition. You will see some of our meals along the posts.. coquillettes/jambon, steak and mushrooms with cream, egg rolls, wraps.. with this 45l fridge we could have « survived » in the desert for a few more days. ;-). We were supposed to be 5 so needed to have enough supplies for 15 meals 🫶.
