First Look: Splendido, A Belmond Hotel, Portofino, Italy

Following a multi-year renovation by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, the Grand Dame of the Italian Riviera reopens for summer 2025 with 52 reimagined rooms and suites, each showcasing Ligurian craftsmanship and antique furniture restored in the Genoese style. The Baronessa Suite features a private-entrance garden, direct pool access and a vast terrace. The saltwater pool is now complemented by lush gardens, while brand-new bar Baratta Sedici channels Riviera glamour with botanical murals and cocktails featuring local flavours. Crowning the transformation, Italy’s first-ever Dior Spa brings indoor-outdoor wellness to the 15th-century monastery-turned-sanctuary, with nature-inspired treatments and a rooftop relaxation terrace offering bay views.

First Look: Garrya Mù Cang Chải, Vietnam

The first Garrya property in Vietnam under the Banyan Tree portfolio, Mù Cang Chải brings minimalist luxury to the terraced rice fields of northern Vietnam. Designed with bamboo and brocade motifs, the 110-room resort blends seamlessly into the landscape, offering mountain views from every suite and villa. Wellness is a focus, with facilities including 8lements Spa, yoga spaces, a gym, multiple pools and in-room fitness amenities. Two restaurants, including a charcoal grill, spotlight local ingredients, while curated experiences, from cooking classes to coffee tastings, immerse guests in regional culture. First Look: JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa, Greece

Set on a 100-acre coastal site near Chania, Marriott’s first Mediterranean beach resort includes 160 rooms, suites and villas, many with private pools and spectacular Aegean Sea views. Designed by Block722, the property blends natural materials with contemporary lines. There are four pools, including one for adults, a private beach and a spa with hydrotherapy facilities, a yoga deck and fitness centre. Six dining venues source produce from the on-site JW Garden, with highlights including open-fire Cretan cuisine at Anoee and bespoke cocktails by Line Athens. The resort also features Europe’s first JW Market café-retail concept.

First Look: Moxy Istanbul Beyoğlu, Turkiye

The first Turkish outpost of Marriott’s millennial-focused brand Moxy, this 166-key hotel is housed in the historic Afrika Han building in Istanbul’s trendy Beyoğlu district, close to attractions such as Hagia Sophia. In true Moxy fashion, the design reflects the locale with neo-classical elements, bold colours and local artwork inspired by Turkish cinema. Minimalist but stylish rooms are filled with smart features, from bedside USB ports to power showers, and suites come with sweeping city views, marble bathrooms and living areas. Communal spaces include a lobby-lounge bar serving small plates and cocktails, 24/7 deli, breakfast bar and a fitness centre open around the clock.

First Look: Sax Paris, LXR Hotels & Resorts, France

Hilton’s first luxury hotel in the heart of Paris, SAX Paris occupies a restored 1899 neo-Gothic landmark in the 7th arrondissement. There are 118 accommodations, many with private terraces, all with marble bathrooms, while three suites include in-room cocktail stations. Guests arrive via The Galerie, a stylish social hub with Baccarat chandeliers, and can relax in the gardens with its heated pool and whirlpool bath. Rooftop restaurant Kinugawa combines French-Japanese cuisine and cocktails with Eiffel Tower views, and there’s a spa with a sauna and hammam, plus a gym and bicycles to borrow. Guest experiences range from gourmet picnics to private Seine cruises.

FIRST LOOK: Athens Capital Suites – MGallery Collection, Greece

Athens Capital Hotel – MGallery Collection in the heart of Athens has unveiled 20 new luxurious suites, expanding the property to 177 accommodations. Set on a leafy street near Syntagma Square, the suites combine 1930s neoclassical elegance with contemporary design, featuring high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, Greek artworks and white marble bathrooms. Select suites offer kitchenettes and balconies, while the two-bedroom Presidential Suite has a private rooftop terrace.
