• Silage inoculant (optional but recommended)
• Gloves, masks (safety)
• Tarpaulin (for temporary storage)

🌽🔒 Protect your feed: make silage now
The maize stover and green maize you have now are perfect for high-quality silage. Proper silage reduces waste, improves animal performance and keeps feed available during the dry season.

Quick steps (easy checklist):
1. Chop at the right dry matter — aim for ~30–35% DM (not too wet, not too dry).
2. Chop to ~1–3 cm for good packing and fermentation.
3. Pack tightly — remove air (the tighter you pack, the better the fermentation).
4. Wrap immediately with plastic film or make bales and wrap to exclude oxygen.
5. Add inoculant if you want faster, more reliable fermentation.
6. Store 3–4 weeks before feeding (check smell — should be pleasantly sour, not rotten).

Chibulu Alert (Lumpy Skin Disease) 🚨

Ba Farmer, if you see many hard lumps on your cattle’s body, this could be Chibulu (Lumpy Skin Disease).

🔎 Signs to watch for:
• Hard raised lumps on skin
• Fever
• Swollen lymph nodes
• Weight loss
• Drop in milk

🦟 How it spreads:
Through biting flies, mosquitoes and ticks.

⚠️ Why act fast?
Chibulu reduces growth, milk production and can weaken the whole herd.

🛡️ What to do:
✔️ Isolate the sick animal
✔️ Control flies and ticks
✔️ Consult a vet immediately
✔️ Vaccination is the best prevention
