ZAMBIAN FASHION TAKES CENTRE STAGE IN PARIS!

The Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts is proud to celebrate three exceptional Zambian fashion designers who are proudly representing Zambia at WHO’S NEXT in Paris, France—one of the world’s leading international platforms for fashion and creative expression.

Their participation marks an important milestone for Zambia’s growing creative industry and demonstrates the potential of Zambian talent to compete, connect, and create opportunities on the global stage.

This opportunity is a direct reflection of the value of strategic networking and collaboration within the creative sector, with connections forged through the Creative Industries Business Summit (CIBS) and the Africa Creative Market (ACM) opening doors for Zambian designers to access international markets and platforms.

The Zambian delegation comprises:

Faith Kabende – President, Zambia Association of Fashion Designers (ZAFD) & FAY Designs.

Chuma Musutu – Treasurer, ZAFD & Dodo Wear.

Christine Kapenda – Kuwala CKC Fashions.

Their participation has been made possible through the support of the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts, in partnership with the National Arts Council of Zambia.

The Ministry recognises the creative industry not only as a platform for artistic expression, but also as an important contributor to youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, employment, cultural identity, and economic development.

From supporting local platforms such as Zambian Fashion Week to facilitating access to international opportunities such as WHO’S NEXT in Paris, the Ministry remains committed to creating pathways for Zambian creatives to showcase their talent, build international networks, access new markets, and transform creativity into sustainable livelihoods.

The journey from Zambia to the global fashion capital of Paris is more than a moment of pride—it is a testament to what can be achieved when talent, collaboration, and opportunity come together.

Congratulations to Faith Kabende, Chuma Musutu, and Christine Kapenda for carrying the Zambian flag with pride and showcasing the creativity, innovation, and talent of Zambia to the world!

Since 2021, Zambia’s creative sector has continued to grow, with the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts, through the Department of Arts, increasing recognition, support and investment in the arts. The establishment of a dedicated Department of Arts, the launch of the National Arts and Film Policies, and the increase in the Arts budget from K600,000 in 2022 to K27 million in 2026 are key milestones in this journey.

More than 3,000 artists have benefited from skills and professional development, while over 2,000 artists have benefited through the National Arts Council of Zambia (NAC) through registration with NAPSA and access to social security benefits. More than 6,000 artists have also been recognised and supported through various creative platforms. The Ministry has further supported arts associations and events, as well as the rehabilitation of the Lusaka Play House, Chingola Arts Society and Livingstone Arts Gallery.
