What you need to know about 🐊

1. **Ancient Reptiles**: Crocodiles are ancient creatures that have existed for about 200 million years, outliving dinosaurs which became extinct about 65 million years ago.

2. **Powerful Jaws**: They have incredibly powerful jaws capable of exerting enormous pressure. The bite force of a large adult crocodile can be over 3,000 pounds per square inch, one of the strongest of any animal.

3. **Amphibious Lifestyle**: Crocodiles are semi-aquatic reptiles, living in both freshwater and saltwater environments. They are found in rivers, lakes, marshes, and some species, like the saltwater crocodile, can also live in brackish and saltwater environments.

4. **Efficient Hunters**: Crocodiles are ambush predators, often waiting for hours or even days for the right moment to attack. They use their powerful tails for swimming and their strong legs for sudden bursts of speed on land.

5. **Thermoregulation**: Crocodiles are ectothermic, meaning they rely on external heat sources to regulate their body temperature. They bask in the sun to warm up and move into water or shade to cool down.
