𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙍𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙤 𝘿𝙖𝙮 2025! 🎙️🎧

18 years ago today, I turned on the mic for the first time at Blast Radio, utterly unaware of the incredible journey it would start. From the halls of Westside FM to the sunrise shifts at Sunsrise FM, this medium has been my greatest passion.

It’s a feeling that’s hard to describe, but this is how I've always felt:
"Radio is the theatre of the mind. It’s that intimate, one-on-one connection where a voice in a small box becomes a friend in your home."

I was reminded of that magic talking with the wonderful Allan and Margaret Hirsch on my show, 'The Weekend Wake-Up with Dez' back in 2021. It’s that connection that makes it all worth it… even when a clip of your 𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒃𝒍𝒆 dance coordination behind the mic goes viral! (Yes, we all saw that cringey video 😅🎶).

🎤 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆 | 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝘆 𝗩𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 🎙️

I wasn’t always the guy with the mic. I was the kid who sat quietly at the back 🪑, dodging every chance to speak 🙈.

𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝. 𝐒𝐡𝐲. The kind of quiet that swallowed potential 🌊.
Then came 𝐌𝐬. 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐨—my high school drama teacher 🎭.
She saw more than silence. She saw a spark ✨.
Through her belief and guidance 🤝, I learned to stand tall 🧍‍♂️, speak up 🗣️, and trust that my voice had value 💬.

My first breakthrough? Speaking at my brother’s wedding 💍 at 18. I was nervous 😰 to the core, but I did it.
And I haven’t looked back since 🔁.

From 𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐨𝐬 🎧 to 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬 🎪, I’ve turned that once-crippling fear into 𝐟𝐮𝐞𝐥 🔥.
