If anyone had to ask me for a few words to sum up this couple, family, guests, and the wedding in its entirety, I would have to say, sweetie pie. A couple and guest list full of sweetie pies, we made sure there was an abundant supply of these chocolates as well as an assortment of their favorites displayed on the decedent display.
Nelrie & Alwyn, from the beginning of our planning were set on a sweetie station to serve as dessert as well as a visual ‘wow factor’, to finish off their articulately styled reception space. The display was set up center stage, with loads of glass vases, domes and tiered stands in the middle of the dance floor and was available for guest to view, peek, and eye out his or her own favorite sweets right from the beginning of the celebrations. The two sweetie tables were later moved to either side of the bridal table to allow for dancing and ample space for guests to chat, choose and fill up their bags.
We asked Nelrie and Alwyn what their favorite treats were and they added details like their top textures, colours and tastes - we built on the idea from there. The couple brought in their own home made fudge and coconut ice and the beautifully decorated naked cake (supplied by Adele Koekemoer) with layers of chocolate and vanilla sponge was placed to the one side of the sweetie bar creating a sweet sense of symmetry.
