N12 Etwatwa Off-Ramp Shooting Incident Under Investigation

A shooting incident believed to be linked to ongoing taxi violence has reportedly occurred near the N12 Etwatwa off-ramp in Ekurhuleni, leaving a Benoni Taxi Patrol vehicle riddled with bullet holes.

Images circulating on social media show a white Toyota Corolla marked "Benoni Taxi Association Taxi Patrol Unit" parked off the road with multiple apparent bullet impacts visible on the vehicle, including the rear windscreen and body panels.
At this stage, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, and authorities have not yet released official details regarding possible injuries or fatalities. Motorists and residents are urged to contact family members and loved ones who may have been travelling in the area to confirm their safety.

The incident comes amid continued concerns over taxi-related violence in parts of Gauteng. Previous deadly shootings linked to taxi disputes have been reported along the N12 corridor near Etwatwa and Benoni, prompting police investigations.

Police are expected to provide further information once preliminary investigations have been completed.

ARMED HIJACKING IN BRONKHORSTSPRUIT

Authorities and community members are on high alert following a violent hijacking that occurred in Bronkhorstspruit this evening, Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
​At approximately 19:15, three armed suspects intercepted a vehicle and forcibly took control of the car before fleeing the scene.

The stolen vehicle is described as follows:
​Vehicle Registration: FP 38 BT GP
​URGENT APPEAL FOR INFORMATION:
Local authorities are urging anyone who may have spotted the vehicle or possesses information regarding the suspects to come forward immediately. Please contact the following number with any details:
