On Cloud 25: A Celebration of Rain and Achievement

This year’s Sanlam Awards embraced a unique concept and theme inspired by the tangible beauty of Namibian summer rains, aptly titled "On Cloud 25." From December to April, the summer rains bring life and prosperity to our country, and what better way to celebrate this gift than to honor the immense achievements witnessed over the past year. The widespread rain across Namibia symbolizes hope, renewal, and growth—making it the perfect backdrop for our recognition of outstanding performances in business and personal development.

At the stunning Windhoek venue, the design beautifully mirrored the essence of clouds and rain, capturing the spirit of jubilation that accompanies a good rain shower. Just as a Cumulonimbus cloud releases its bounty when filled to the brim, Sanlam-Namibia experienced an outpouring of success this year, with remarkable sales accolades achieved by our dedicated brokers and sales teams.

The all-blue theme, while serendipitously aligning with Sanlam’s branding, was primarily a nod to the tranquil feeling just before it rains. Evoking imagery of gentle raindrops, we employed whimsical bobo balls and soft velvet drapery alongside crisp silver lamé and airy chiffon fabrics to generate an atmosphere of lightness and joy. The carefully designed table layouts incorporated draped elements, mirrors, and shimmering mirror balls accented by exquisite rechargeable lamps. Soft blue candles and bespoke menu and table numbers completed the elegant table-scape.

The stage was beautifully executed as per the brief, thanks to the talented team at ConSoAV .Their attention to detail, from sound design to lighting, created moments that delighted the senses, and I was thrilled to help orchestrate the technical aspects behind the scenes, ensuring everything flowed seamlessly throughout the event.

Guests were treated to a delectable four-course menu featuring Namibian-inspired cuisine, presented with a fine dining flair that highlighted our rich culinary heritage. Collaborating with a professional team to create flavors that lingered in the palate was a rewarding experience.

No event would be truly memorable without captivating live entertainment. @ brought his exceptional talent to the stage, crafting an enchanting atmosphere that enhanced the evening's spirit of celebration.

A heartfelt thank you to Namibia and their marketing team for entrusting us with the design and planning of this immersive event. It has been an honor to soar among the clouds—cloud 25, to be precise—and to create an experience that celebrates both achievement and the beauty of our natural world. Capturing the essence of this event was no small task, but the brilliant artistry of Nessy Hilifilwa from Oye Creative Studio skillfully immortalized each moment, allowing us to relive the evening and admire the intricate details long after the last guest departed.

Lastly thank you to my team for always making and bringing your A game when creating these on of a kind Immersive Franseman Atelier events.

a year of reflection.... What stood out to me as a event organizer and planner in South Africa and Namibia in 2024 is the completely different ways the countries operate when it comes to event organization.

One completely stands out as detail driven and keeping to classical event practices where the other is all about being different, breaking the mould in a certain way. Looking at this from the inside I am inclined to rather follow the classical way... It honestly reflects for me personally as it has that certain Je ne sais quoi which is timeless.

Creating these bold statement events might have its appeal but for 2025 I will follow suit and create beautifully curated moments for my clients. I am thankful that you get different clientele and that the weird is not that important but rather building on sound classical event planning and ex*****on practices are still used and enjoyed....

Wishing all my clients. a beautiful celebratory driven 2025. A year that will boast many champagne glasses in the air... Toasting to the beauty of life.... The beauty of celebrating the moments and making life long memories ...

Thank you 2024 for the opportunities you availed ... it was special and gave me hope for the future...

The One.
The one economy foundation steer headed by the formidable Monica Geingos and her tribe of amazing colleagues who give back to the youth and those in need of assistance. This year the foundation hosted its 9th Soiree and how privilege we are to have been able to assist making this event memorable and to add gravitas to the theme: SHAPE- MOULDING THE FUTURE HAND IN HAND.
The Franseman Events & Atelier was tasked to create a concept, theme and feel for the event by making the concept come alive through the visuals and the design of the event. As we believe in Immersive storytelling and design this spectacular 9th showcase truly spoke about the amazing work and the character of the one economy foundation and the work it does in Namibia.
The event was created through the concept of moulding clay, shaping it to become something useful, to delight, to bring change and to be something of utter beauty. From the arrival where we designed a sculptural “mess” to tickle the guest mind to the beautiful knotted design on the stage the concept stayed true to the concept of shaping and moulding.
The venue was set with tables and chairs covered with rich velvet in stone, chocolate, ginger and ocher which brought a luxury feel, brown and white chair covers set in flowy pockets around the table brought a design cue to the venue while the centerpieces made of woven raffia, fresh green rhino grass in a setting of golden orange pincushion proteas and protea hookerania between the use of preserved hydrangeas in rich cream made for a delicate setting and finished off with dark Chinese brown and subtle toffee dinner candles for ambience
The stage was a delight and focal of the venue and done with a beautiful robust free flow installation of flowers, pokers and terracotta pots to add to the theme of the evening.

We enjoyed performances by and speeches to the delight of the guest.
This would off course not go so smoothly if not for the amazing service providers who assisted making this such a special event. ConSoAV thank you for the beautiful ambience, the stage design was perfect as per our discussions and the sound was sublime. To Mercure Hotel Windhoek thank you for your unwavering support to the one economy. The three-course dinner was delicious.
Thank you Eddie for the skilled and friendly waiter service. This would off course not be possible if not for the wonderful eye of Nessie of Oye Creative Studio who captured these beautiful moments in the venue.
Thank you Brockerhoff for your talent and beautiful play on the theme. t Hotpocket Band and the due of the Difference band thank you for making the musical interludes beautiful and a stunning evening to enjoy.
Then what will an event be if not for the talented Laimi Elago and Neville Basson who steered the event with fun, comedy and Namibian poise.

THE MAGIC OF MAREIKE & HENNING
There is undoubtedly something ethereal when love is visible in just about everything at a wedding. As a event organiser it is our job to make thing goes effortlessly ,smooth, well run and perfect. A difficult word to use under any circumstances but if your team and fellow service providers are amazing at their craft and passion seeps from that you know the event will be extraordinary special .
Mareike wanted a subtle glamour driven wedding filled with little moments through out the day and the venue at Vallee Vineyards has that something truly special to offer their brides. It has a touch of Tuscany and a nod to the french country side all hidden in one amazing venue. The lovely photos are taken by the amazing Jessy of Jessie du Bruyn photography. The look and feel designed by Franseman Events & Atelier and flowers by the talented team of Franseman in Paarl. The amazing food created by the talented and furniture by Goeters. Can not wait to see the final video of this lovely day in Wellington .
