On Cloud 25: A Celebration of Rain and Achievement

This year’s Sanlam Awards embraced a unique concept and theme inspired by the tangible beauty of Namibian summer rains, aptly titled "On Cloud 25." From December to April, the summer rains bring life and prosperity to our country, and what better way to celebrate this gift than to honor the immense achievements witnessed over the past year. The widespread rain across Namibia symbolizes hope, renewal, and growth—making it the perfect backdrop for our recognition of outstanding performances in business and personal development.

At the stunning Windhoek venue, the design beautifully mirrored the essence of clouds and rain, capturing the spirit of jubilation that accompanies a good rain shower. Just as a Cumulonimbus cloud releases its bounty when filled to the brim, Sanlam-Namibia experienced an outpouring of success this year, with remarkable sales accolades achieved by our dedicated brokers and sales teams.

The all-blue theme, while serendipitously aligning with Sanlam’s branding, was primarily a nod to the tranquil feeling just before it rains. Evoking imagery of gentle raindrops, we employed whimsical bobo balls and soft velvet drapery alongside crisp silver lamé and airy chiffon fabrics to generate an atmosphere of lightness and joy. The carefully designed table layouts incorporated draped elements, mirrors, and shimmering mirror balls accented by exquisite rechargeable lamps. Soft blue candles and bespoke menu and table numbers completed the elegant table-scape.

The stage was beautifully executed as per the brief, thanks to the talented team at ConSoAV .Their attention to detail, from sound design to lighting, created moments that delighted the senses, and I was thrilled to help orchestrate the technical aspects behind the scenes, ensuring everything flowed seamlessly throughout the event.

Guests were treated to a delectable four-course menu featuring Namibian-inspired cuisine, presented with a fine dining flair that highlighted our rich culinary heritage. Collaborating with a professional team to create flavors that lingered in the palate was a rewarding experience.

No event would be truly memorable without captivating live entertainment. @ brought his exceptional talent to the stage, crafting an enchanting atmosphere that enhanced the evening's spirit of celebration.

A heartfelt thank you to Namibia and their marketing team for entrusting us with the design and planning of this immersive event. It has been an honor to soar among the clouds—cloud 25, to be precise—and to create an experience that celebrates both achievement and the beauty of our natural world. Capturing the essence of this event was no small task, but the brilliant artistry of Nessy Hilifilwa from Oye Creative Studio skillfully immortalized each moment, allowing us to relive the evening and admire the intricate details long after the last guest departed.

a year of reflection.... What stood out to me as a event organizer and planner in South Africa and Namibia in 2024 is the completely different ways the countries operate when it comes to event organization.

One completely stands out as detail driven and keeping to classical event practices where the other is all about being different, breaking the mould in a certain way. Looking at this from the inside I am inclined to rather follow the classical way... It honestly reflects for me personally as it has that certain Je ne sais quoi which is timeless.

Creating these bold statement events might have its appeal but for 2025 I will follow suit and create beautifully curated moments for my clients. I am thankful that you get different clientele and that the weird is not that important but rather building on sound classical event planning and ex*****on practices are still used and enjoyed....

Wishing all my clients. a beautiful celebratory driven 2025. A year that will boast many champagne glasses in the air... Toasting to the beauty of life.... The beauty of celebrating the moments and making life long memories ...
