As an artist or DJ, there comes a point where you need to leave your hood. It’s not that you’re not talented it’s just that they’re too used to seeing you. Familiarity makes you look less valuable.
Sadly, real support often comes from people who don’t know you personally. Sometimes even your own circle limits your growth.
You’ll start getting booked after they see your numbers rising and even then, they’ll decide how much they think you’re worth, offering you fees based on their perception of your value, not your actual work.
The truth? Sometimes your worth is only recognized far from home. Don’t be afraid to go where you’re celebrated, not just tolerated.
