The Cartrack saga really has my soul hurting…
I understand that a business is exactly that: a business. But somewhere along the way, many companies become so consumed by performance, profits, targets, shareholder expectations, and the bottom line that they forget the very people who make those results possible.
Human beings.
Employees are often expected to consistently deliver more, push harder, meet increasingly demanding quotas, and perform at their absolute best day after day. Yet life does not pause because we clock in. People carry stress, illness, grief, anxiety, family responsibilities, and countless unseen battles.
Too often, workplace cultures create an environment where people feel guilty for being human. The unspoken message becomes: “If you can’t or won't do the job, someone else will.”
Whether the allegations surrounding this tragedy are ultimately proven or disproven, what cannot be disputed is that a young woman is gone. A daughter. A friend. A colleague. A provider. A human being whose life mattered.
That is what makes this story so heartbreaking 💔
The public debate, legal questions, investigations, and corporate statements are important. Accountability matters. Truth matters. Justice matters. But at the centre of all of this is a family mourning a loss that can never be replaced.
Looking at her photo, you don’t see a headline or a social media trend. You see a young woman with her whole life ahead of her. A beautiful soul with dreams, ambitions, loved ones, and a future that should still be unfolding today.
We cannot simply move on to the next news cycle. We cannot reduce a human life to policies, procedures, compensation, or a funeral bill. There is more to life than targets, bonuses, quarterly reports, and year-end celebrations.
The real question is whether this tragedy will become another story that fades away, or whether it will spark meaningful conversations about dignity, compassion, wellbeing, and humanity in the workplace.
Because sometimes the greatest tragedy is not that a life ends, but that we are reminded how fragile every ordinary day truly is.
