Brief Bio - Rethabile is a children's book author, poet and storyteller who loves books, the outdoors and people. I am a proud Mosotho, ke Letebele la Mthimkh'ulu and i was raised by strong women who laugh from the depth of their souls 🤍

What it means to be a woman in 2022: It means freedom. Something that we so easily take for granted. The idea that women who came before us, couldnt even dare to dream and pursue the dreams we do because of all the limitations that were cast on them for simply being woman. I am most grateful for the ability to freely pursue myself, wellness and all the dreams i dare to dream. But there is much work to do in speaking this kind of freedom into all the women and young girls around us. It is not selfish to love yourself and pursue your dreams.

Quote that keeps me going is from Author Ashe, 'Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can.' Its very significant for me because i struggle wirh desiring perfection and put off a lot till things 'line up' but this is a simple reminder that who i am, where i am, and what i have is enough.

For the women who came before me, I honor you. Each one of you. Your courage has crept into my bones, and when I feel like I might buckle into surrender, I sense you at my side. Your arms break my fall. Your love is my armor. Your wild fire is my resolve.

For the women who will come after me, please respect your history but do not be bound by it. Please take the torch but use it to light your own chosen path. Please give yourself permission to be liberated rather than feel obligated. Please know the beautiful brave hearts that you truly are, and make your mark with fierce femininity and love.

What does it mean being a woman in 2022:
Being a woman in 2022 for me means always getting up and giving it your best shot no matter how many times you have failed. Knowing that I deserve all the greatness that the universe has to offer, being a woman to me means having the strength to overcome all life's tests and still show up as beautiful as I am. Being a woman is being able to win or loose and still be able to look at yourself in the mirror and say "Baby you are strong,you are wise, you are deserving and there is no1 like you."

What does it mean being a woman in 2022:
Being a woman in 2022 for me means knowing that I am enough, understanding that vulranability is also strength, knowing I am deserving of love and every good that comes my way, being able to be part of the change I would like to see in the world and mostly being an adult I needed as a child.Remembering that my mental health matters. Most importantly to stop living on survival mode and embrace life as it comes.

A Lesotho born woman who is based in Limpopo South Africa. I'm a 32 year old mother of 3, a wife and a sister and an award nominee. I'd like to think of myself as a humble human being, I'm my sister's keeper and my biggest dream is to one day be able to stand in front of a crowd and share my life story hoping it can be a motivation for a young girl out there who is going through what I went through in life

What does it mean being a woman in 2022:
It is so hard being a woman in 2022 because we're constantly looking over our shoulders, I'm not safe as a woman, I cannot trust anyone as a woman because women are being kidnapped, r***d and killed every day. The biggest challenge of being a woman in 2022 is trying to make it in this world where there are still men who believe a woman's place is in the kitchen with a child on her back. Being a woman in 2022 isn't easy at all because we're fighting many demons at once, if it's not men killing and ra**ng us it's men making women mothers and running away from their responsibilities making a woman go through it all alone, if it's not that then it's being a single mom, working more than 12 hours a day and still have to come home and do everything for your children. Being a woman in 2022 means having a heart of steal.

If I were not African, I wonder whether it would be clear to me that Africa is a place where the people do not need limp gifts of fish but sturdy fishing rods and fair access to the pond. I wonder whether I would realize that while African nations have a failure of leadership, they also have dynamic people with agency and voices.
