Congratulations to Vredesig Dormers & Suffolk on an outstanding 2026 Royal Show!

Their impressive results across the Dormer, Hampshire Down and Suffolk competitions were complemented by a particularly significant achievement — 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝗺𝗯 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘀 at the Royal Carcass Competition.

These successes reflect the dedication, careful breeding and hard work that go into producing quality livestock throughout the year.

The Royal Agricultural Society extends its warm congratulations to Johnny and Mala Forbes and the Vredesig team, and sincere thanks for their continued commitment to the Royal Show. We greatly value your participation and the contribution you make to the standard of competition.

🐂 𝗖𝗨𝗥𝗘 𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗦𝗘 𝗕𝗜𝗟𝗧𝗢𝗡𝗚 𝗖𝗢𝗪 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗣𝗘𝗧𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 | 𝗥𝗢𝗬𝗔𝗟 𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗪 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

What makes a good biltong cow? The 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗹𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝘄 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 celebrated the value of mature cattle in South Africa's traditional biltong industry, where well-conditioned animals and the distinctive qualities of 𝒈𝒆𝒆𝒍𝒗𝒆𝒕 (yellow fat) are particularly prized.

🏆 Congratulations to 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻 𝗙𝘆𝘃𝗶𝗲 of Five Star Santa Gertrudis, who claimed first and third places in the on-the-hoof competition, with 𝗗𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗲 taking second!

Justin's winning cow, K101, went on to claim the 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝗶𝗹𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝘄 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘀 title, with his second entry placing Reserve Champion. Ferrero Bonsmaras secured third place in the carcass judging.

The competition highlighted the importance of assessing cattle both on the hoof and on the hook, recognising the commercial value of mature animals.

Congratulations to 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻 𝗙𝘆𝘃𝗶𝗲 𝗼𝗳 Five Star Santa Gertrudis on another outstanding performance at the 2026 Royal Agricultural Show!

For the second consecutive year, Justin claimed both the 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗢𝘅 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘀 and 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝗶𝗹𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝘄 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘀 titles.

Both winning carcasses were progeny of JT150001 Hercules, highlighting the strength of Five Star's breeding programme.

The stud also enjoyed remarkable success in the on-the-hoof judging, including a clean sweep of the top three places in the Super Ox class. Its champion Biltong Cow, K101, went on to win the carcass competition too.

Die 2026 Royal Agricultural Show, wat van 7 tot 11 Oktober by Tweedie, Howick, aangebied is, sal vir altyd ’n besonderse plek in Hatari Farming se geskiedenis inneem.

Met meer as 500 skaapinskrywings en strawwe mededinging tussen verskillende vleisskaaprasse, was dit vir ons ’n geweldige voorreg om van die hoogste eerbewyse in die Suid-Afrikaanse skoubedryf huis toe te bring.

Vir die eerste keer in die geskiedenis van die Dormer-ras het dieselfde stoet beide die Supreme Champion Ram en Supreme Champion Ewe by die Royal Show verower!

Hierdie Standard Bank Gold Cup-toekennings verteenwoordig die hoogste en mees gesogte kampioenskappe van die Royal Show se skaafdeling, waar die beste diere van verskillende rasse teen mekaar meeding.

Om beide hierdie titels in dieselfde jaar te wen, is vir Hatari Farming ’n historiese mylpaal.

Hierdie gesogte toekenning word gemaak aan die teler wat die meeste punte oor die verskillende klasse van die Nasionale Kampioenskappe insamel.

Vir ons is hierdie erkenning besonders waardevol, omdat dit nie net een uitstaande dier beloon nie, maar die algehele gehalte, konsekwentheid en prestasie van die hele stoet.

Ons sukses was nie tot die stoetkampioenskappe beperk nie.

Dit is vir ons die bewys van jare se doelgerigte teling, streng seleksie en ’n onwrikbare geloof in ons genetiese teelprogram.

Congratulations to Weston Agricultural College on an outstanding performance at the 2026 Royal Agricultural Show, claiming two major awards in the Royal Carcass Competition!

🥇 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝗲𝗳 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗿 – winner of the prestigious Crafcor Hygrade Floating Trophy.

🏅 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝗲𝗳 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘀

Both entries attracted strong support at the Royal Carcass Auction, with Yakoobs meats purchasing the winning group for R58,319.40 and the Second Reserve Champion Carcass for R22,886.85.

These achievements followed Weston's earlier victory over Cedara College of Agriculture in the 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲, adding to an excellent week for the College and highlighting the value of practical agricultural education.

The Champion Beef Carcass earned the prestigious General Arnott Memorial Trophy and went on to achieve R80/kg at the Royal Carcass Auction – the highest price per kilogram in the beef division.

An excellent achievement for Ferrero Bonsmara, demonstrating the quality and consistency of its commercial beef production.

The 2026 Royal Carcass Competition recognised outstanding achievements in commercial beef and lamb production, bringing the Royal Fat Stock Show to a successful conclusion.

🐂 𝗙𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗕𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗮 claimed Champion and Reserve Champion Beef Carcass, as well as Reserve Champion Beef Group of Four.

🐂 Weston Agricultural College secured Champion Beef Group of Four and Second Reserve Champion Beef Carcass.

🐂 Five Star Santa Gertrudis (𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴) celebrated a remarkable repeat performance, with Justin Fyvie winning both the Champion Super Ox and Champion Biltong Cow Carcass titles for the second consecutive year.

🐑 In the lamb division, Vredesig Dormers & Suffolk collected six awards, Hatari Farming secured four, and 2Broers Dormers claimed both Super Lamb championships, including the carcass that went on to achieve a record R110,580 at auction!

These results highlight the quality, consistency and commercial value of livestock produced by some of the country's leading breeders and farming operations.

🏆 𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗕𝗢𝗢'𝗦 𝗦𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗣𝗦 𝗜𝗟𝗘 𝗗𝗘 𝗙𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘 𝗛𝗢𝗡𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗦 𝗔𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗥𝗢𝗬𝗔𝗟 𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗪!

Chiboo’s Ile De France Stud enjoyed an exceptional showing at this year's Ile de France Regional Championships, claiming 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀, 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀, and a clean sweep of the junior and senior championship honours for rams and ewes.

Zakariya Chiboo's stud also dominated the individual age classes, securing 14 first places across the competition.

👏 Congratulations also to ES Ile de France Stud , which excelled in the group classes with three wins, and 𝗩𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴 𝗜𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗲 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, which claimed two class victories.
