🇧🇼 Botswana Adventure Day 7 to 8
Deception Pan & Motopi
Leaving Deception Pan, we made our way to Motopi, taking on deep sand, thick bush, and plenty of challenging tracks.
Our campsite at Motopi was just a short distance from a busy watering hole, with animals coming and going throughout the day and night. The highlight had to be waking up one morning, unzipping my tent, and finding a hyena sitting quietly outside, watching me as if it was there to say good morning! 🐾
It's moments like these that remind you that you're a guest in the wild.

Day 5 & 6 of our 18-day Botswana adventure 🇧🇼🔥
From Deception Pan we made our way deeper into the Central Kalahari, heading for Leopard Pan.
What a drive. What a place.
The Central Kalahari continues to impress with every kilometre. The recent rains have transformed the landscape into a lush green wilderness, making for some incredible scenery and unforgettable driving.
One thing we weren't expecting was the number of field mice around the campsites. There weren't huge numbers, but enough to keep you on your toes. If you're travelling through the area, make sure to spray your vehicle with Rat Ban or a similar deterrent before the trip.
Leopard Pan was everything we hoped for and more — remote, peaceful, and surrounded by the raw beauty that makes the Central Kalahari so special.
The roads may be rough, the bush may leave a few new stripes on the vehicles, but every kilometre is worth it.

18 days. Botswana. Let the adventure begin 🇧🇼🔥
Day 1 & 2 started with an early departure from Durban — pushing through fog, Easter traffic, and long roads north.

We spent the night at Stockpoort Border Lodge, and what a stopover it was… great food, great people, and the perfect way to start the trip.

The next morning we crossed into Botswana, did a quick resupply in Palapye (Botswana is strict on bringing meat & veg across, so local shopping is the way to go), and made our way to Khama Rhino Sanctuary for our first night under the stars. 🦏⛺
One thing we learnt quickly… Khama’s firewood is next level 🔥
