A Letter To Reformers: Guard Your Heart.
To Every Reformer Whom God Has Entrusted With The Burden Of Restoring His Church,
Guard Your Heart.
The Greatest Battle You Will Ever Fight Will Not Be Against Systems, Traditions, Or Institutions.
It Will Be The Battle To Keep Your Heart Pure While Confronting Them.
Never Forget That The People You Are Sent To Reform Have Often Lived Within The Existing System For Longer Than You Have Carried The Revelation To Change It.
Do Not Become Frustrated With Them.
Be Patient With Them.
Revelation Cannot Be Forced Upon Men. It Must Be Received.
The Lord Jesus Said:
“No One, Having Drunk Old Wine, Immediately Desires New; For He Says, ‘The Old Is Better.’” (Luke 5:39)
Do Not Despise Those Who Still Prefer The Old Wine.
Many Have Never Seen Anything Else.
Many Are Defending What They Believe Has Served God Faithfully.
Many Are Not Resisting Truth; They Are Simply Yet To See It.
Therefore, Speak The Truth.
But Speak It In Love.
Truth Without Love Wounds.
Love Without Truth Compromises.
A Reformer Must Carry Both.
Remember Why You Rose.
You Did Not Rise Because You Hate The Church.
You Rose Because You Love Her Too Much To Leave Her Unchanged.
You Did Not Rise Because You Despise What Exists.
You Rose Because God Allowed You To See What Should Exist.
Reformers Do Not Merely See Problems.
They See Patterns.
They Have Been Captivated By Heaven’s Blueprint, And Once A Man Has Seen The Pattern, He Can Never Again Be Satisfied With The Substitute.
Do Not Be Surprised When You Are Rejected.
Every System Defends Itself.
Every Tradition Protects Itself.
Every Generation Questions The Voice That Calls It Beyond What It Has Known.
Do Not Interpret Rejection As The Absence Of God.
Often It Is The Cost Of Carrying His Burden.
You Will Be Misunderstood.
You Will Be Misrepresented.
Your Motives Will Be Questioned.
Some Will Oppose You Without Ever Truly Hearing You.
Others Will Resist You Simply Because Change Threatens Familiarity.
Do Not Allow Their Response To Become Yours.
Reformation Must Never Be Born From Retaliation.
It Must Always Be Born From Revelation.
The Moment A Reformer Begins Fighting Men Instead Of Restoring God’s Pattern, He Has Lost The Heart Of Reformation.
Guard Yourself Against Bitterness.
Guard Yourself Against Offence.
Guard Yourself Against Pride.
Guard Yourself Against The Desire To Win Arguments Instead Of Winning Hearts.
Never Build A Movement Around The People Who Rejected You.
Build It Around The Christ Who Called You.
Never Allow Pain To Become Your Message.
Let Revelation Remain Your Message.
Remember That You Are Not Called Merely To Dismantle.
You Are Called To Build.
Not Merely To Expose Error.
But To Establish Truth.
Not Merely To Criticise Systems.
But To Restore Heaven’s Pattern.
The Church Does Not Need Angry Reformers.
She Needs Broken Reformers.
Men And Women Whose Hearts Have Been Captured By Christ More Than They Have Been Wounded By Men.
The World Has Seen Enough Rebels.
May It See Reformers.
Men Who Can Confront Without Hatred.
Correct Without Humiliation.
Stand Without Pride.
Endure Without Bitterness.
And Love The Church Enough To Labour For Her Restoration, Even When She Does Not Yet Understand Why They Have Come.
Guard Your Heart.
For The Future Of Reformation Will Depend Not Only On The Revelation You Carry, But On The Spirit In Which You Carry It.
May Christ Preserve Your Heart Until His Church Once Again Reflects His Original Design.
