I feel the need to share my experience and also what the next steps are . But first Husband Johan Peens thank you for all the love and patience . To my mom who looked after Leo in this difficult time and has just been my voice of reason to push and keep fighting Dankie mamma Hannelie Van Blerk. Leo Luciano Peens mamma sinne the love you bring will brighten the darkest days into forever. To the 5 friends who messaged , phoned non stop thank you . I know now who my tribe is (not tagging anyone, you should just know your support carried me ) . Ek is free van n hospitaal bed !!!!! One whole week in bed, in a room filled with strangers will definitely give you a mind shift about life and yourself .
Now the unfortunate part : I fell on Tuesday 04/02/25 at 3pm . I slipped on some water that spilled from my hair wash basin in my salon fell and wedged myself between the bassin the and wall . I still had a a client who’s hair had to be done in her bed . At the moment I did not feel pain only some discomfort so I went on . After my sweet client ( who has now passed on 😭) I felt my hip was painfully packed up and went home . Obviously I worked the rest of the week . Friday I worked a busy full day but by the afternoon I told my amazing assistant that I could not carry on and skipped a few of my regular clients due to discomfort. Johan had to pick me up from work as I could not even drive myself home needles to say Saturday I was at the Dr . We did some X-rays but all he could see was flood by the hip which meant I seriously fell hard AKA ń koek hou 😂 Saturday around 5/6 my hands and arms went completely numb . And felt extremely painful. Went to bed Sunday they felt better. Monday morning back at Drs office he gives me other meds and decides to send to a specialist but by Monday evening my left leg was burning like a wild fire and going numb . I emailed my Dr ( yes he is that cool ) and he suggested that I go to the emergency room. They did more scans but with no luck sent me home with a referral letter to see a Neurologist asap . Tuesday morning I phone … then they phoned back about 3 times with the last call Dr is admitting you to hospital. Full MRI scan , full bloods and some extra ending with a Nervous system test .
Conclusion:About (+-) 90% of my left leg is numb and movement is limited Hands , arms and parts of my back have pins and needles. Leaving my hands numb (pinky and ring finger both sides) with little strength or power in my hands .
With all of this there is no saying if I’ll ever gain control over my limbs again or not God is the only one who knows . I am sad to announce that both salons for” Candy Floss Closet” will be closed. Yes I am in pain constantly , yes I do have great meds .
So if you see me walking with aid please still remind yourself I am the same person I was before all this😝(yes I will be weird ,always)
