America minted 1,200 new millionaires every single day in 2025. More than 440,000 for the year — nearly half of all new millionaires created worldwide.

The UBS data is striking. But the more useful number is this: financial assets like stocks and bonds account for 79% of gross wealth in the U.S. The stock market did most of the heavy lifting. The people crossing into seven figures aren't primarily getting there through salary. They're getting there through ownership.
That's the through-line across almost every wealth-building story worth paying attention to right now. Income pays the bills. Assets build the number.

One caveat worth sitting with: while average U.S. wealth climbed nearly 10% between 2020 and 2025, median wealth fell almost 20%. The millionaire boom is real — and so far, it's concentrated at the top. The gap between people who own assets and people who don't is widening, not narrowing.

The lesson isn't that wealth is easy or guaranteed. It's that the mechanism is increasingly clear: own things that grow while you work, sleep and live your life. The people who figured that out earliest are the ones showing up in the data.
