“When you walk into a Spiegeltent, it is like opening a jewellery box.” ✨ Rik Klessens couldn’t have described these beautiful tents more perfectly.
Now, according to the rules of Instagram, this video is far too long. Nearly five minutes, in fact. But some stories are worth breaking the rules for.
We sat down with Rik and Liliane Klessens to talk about the extraordinary world of Spiegelpaleis, their family business and craft dating back to 1920, with Rik now the third generation to carry it forward.
To hear them speak about the history of these tents, the craftsmanship that goes into them and the passion they still have for what they do more than 100 years later is something very special.
And then there’s their relationship with Zingara.
Our journey with the Klessens family and their Spiegelpaleis tents is one we truly treasure. Hearing them speak so warmly about Zingara, and about their genuine love for South Africa, made this conversation even more heartwarming.
