Vertigo Festival Exploring perception and sensory experience through Electronic Music and New Media Arts

Björn Thomas (Björn Thomas) is a Cape Town-based artist working across mediums, known for eclectic live electronic performances rooted in deep textural experimentation, heavy resampling, and noisy hardware-based leftfield production. Blending post-minimal, lo-fi dance with ambient and dub-infused soundscapes, their sets occupy a fascinating space between IDM, dub textures, and experimental electronics.

Since debuting their live set in 2024, they’ve played throughout South Africa at institutions pushing the forefront of the underground electronic scene.

At VERTIGO Live II, SingleMotherOfTwo will perform their live set accompanied by new media visuals of their own creation, unfolding a story of soundscape and texture live at the L***a.

We went behind the scenes to find out what drives their live set and the gear making it all happen.

Biodive, the alias of Cape Town-based DJ, producer & promoter Terrence Pearce, who began his music journey in the early 2000s, Pearce relocated to Cape Town mid-decade to immerse himself in electronic music. VERTIGO Live II is his third live set: a complete break from dance music, brought to life alongside visual artist Nicholai Thomas, whose new media visuals will respond to the music in real time on the big screen.

We stepped into his studio to get the intel on his performance and the hardware behind it all.

Vertigo Live II ~ Analogue

After a sold out last show that left us breathless, we return to the L***a Theatre for another Immersive sit down experience where sound, texture and atmosphere unfold in real time.
festival presents the second edition of its immersive live performance series, shifting focus toward live electronic expression — hardware-only, and deeply immersive.

Taking place on 15 June 2026, the eve of a public holiday, the evening features live sets from Biodive and Singlemotheroftwo, exploring ambient electronics, emotional movement and rhythm through machines, improvisation and feeling.

Set against striking new-media visuals by and , the historic The L***a Theatre transforms into a living canvas of sound and image, for one night only.
