UPDATE — Good news: The Cu***ng woman with Alzheimer’s who was reported missing has been found alive in Ringgold County.
Search efforts are underway for Cheryl Anderson, a 78-year-old woman with Alzheimer’s whose sudden disappearance has left her family deeply worried. Authorities in Warren County are asking the public to help locate her.
Cheryl was last seen Tuesday just after 4:00 p.m. as she left her home in a white Toyota Sienna minivan with the Iowa handicap license plate PJ791. Investigators believe the vehicle had about half a tank of fuel when she drove away.
At 4:37 p.m., a license plate reader camera recorded the van traveling near Hickman Road and Colby Parkway in Clive. That moment is the last confirmed clue about where she might be.
Cheryl stands about 5 feet 4 inches tall and has a heavy build. Officials released photos of her and the vehicle to help people recognize them if they see her.
Authorities say the situation is especially troubling because Cheryl has not driven in several years and had never driven that minivan before. With Alzheimer’s affecting her memory and awareness, there is concern she may not understand where she is or how to get back home. She is also without important medication.
Her family often spends time near Jordan Creek, Maffitt Lake, and Brown’s Woods, which are areas investigators are paying attention to during the search.
Anyone with information about Cheryl Anderson or who spots the white Toyota Sienna is asked to contact the Warren County Sheriff’s Office immediately. Her family is hoping someone may see her and help guide her safely back home.
