General Rules:
1. Registration: Participants can register for the competition on one of the next two Saturdays during Pietman's session at Thirsty Whale between 3 PM to late. To register, participants must sing a song during the specified operating hours on either Saturday 7th or 14th June and write their details on a till slip provided during the session.
2. Age restriction: The competition is open to participants of all ages. However, due to the venue's liquor license, participants under the age of 18 must vacate the premises by 9:30pm on all competition nights.
3. Originality: Participants are allowed to perform original songs as well as cover songs for the night.
4. Conduct: Participants must behave professionally and respectfully during the competition.
5. Participation commitment: By participating in the competition, participants commit to attending scheduled performances and adhering to the competition's schedule.
6. Amateur status: To be eligible, participants must be amateur singers. Professional singers, defined as individuals earning income from music-related activities (singing, vocal training, music production, etc.), are not eligible to participate.
Competition Details:
The competition will run over a 10-week period, every Wednesday night, starting on June 18th, 2025, and concluding on August 20th, 2025. The finale will take place on Friday, September 5th, 2025. Semi-final details will be announced later during the competition.
Judging Panel:
The judging panel will consist of the management team of Thirsty Whales. As such, no staff members of Thirsty Whales will be eligible to participate in the competition.
Performance Rules:
1. Song choice: Song choices rules and regulations will be available after the registration process has been completed.
2. Performance length: Each performance is limited to a specific time (e.g., 5. _Stage presence_: Participants are expected to engage with the audience and perform confidently.
Content Guidelines:
1. Explicit content: Participants may be restricted from performing songs with explicit language or content.
2. Original material: Participants are encouraged to perform original songs or compositions.
Judging and Scoring:
1. Judging criteria: Judges will evaluate performances based on vocal technique, stage presence, audience engagement, and overall performance.
2. Scoring system: Judges will use a numerical scoring system.
3. Tiebreakers: In the event of a tie, judges may use specific criteria to determine the winner.

Participants of the tie-breaker will be supplied a song by the judging panel for the knockout round.
Prizes:
Cash prizes will be awarded.
1st - R5000
2nd - R2500
3rd - R1500
R500 cash prize for lucy draw.
Participant Expectations:
1. Punctuality: Participants must arrive on time for performances.
2. Equipment: Participants are responsible for ensuring their song choices are available in the DJ database. Participants may provide the song data. Participants are responsible to ensure supplied data format is supported.
3. Sportsmanship: Participants are expected to conduct themselves in a sporting and respectful manner.
Venue Rules:
1. Venue policies: Participants must adhere to the venue's policies and rules.
2. Equipment usage: Participants must adhere to equipment DJ policies and standard rules.
Miscellaneous:
1. Photography and videography: The competition will allow photography and videography during performances.
2. Social media promotion: Cool 😎 Tunes and Thirsty Whales will promote participants and performances on social media.
