Margy Hagan Authorised Marriage Celebrant Need a celebrant for a life event? I was a Secondary Drama teacher for more years than I will admit to so have the skills to create and present your ceremony.

I'm organised and professional, but also flexible, easy going and fun.

What an experience! So pleased to be part of Peter and Chloe’s marriage celebration at the Pháp Hoa Temple. The ceremony was joyful and included chanting, singing, incense, laughter, applause…and some great advice on how to have a successful marriage. And to round things off, there were (very loud) firecrackers and a dragon dance! Very grateful to have been included. Hoa Temple

After a long break, it’s good to be back conducting weddings. Last Sunday’s was with Michelle and Martin at House on Haines at Tea Tree Gully. We were able to include all of their children in a ring warming ceremony, and a highlight was the inclusion of a piper - a first for me. Many thanks to Michelle and Martin for allowing me to be part of their day.

When my good friend Bron and I became Marriage Celebrants back in 2012, we decided to work together for a while to support each other and make sure we ‘got things right’. Ten years later we’re still working together - if it’s my wedding she’s the roadie, and if it’s hers I’m on back up. We’ve met couples together and shared the planning, telling couples if for some reason their celebrant can’t do the ceremony, there’s another ready to step in who knows them and their plans.

Well, tomorrow (thanks to two red lines on a RAT!) Bron’s on her own officiating at one of my weddings. Although I’m really disappointed not to be there, (especially as my quarantine ends at midnight tomorrow!) it was great to be able to ring my couple with the news earlier this week and have them say, “Well that’s bad news, but at least we have Bron.” I’m sure she’ll do an amazing job tomorrow, and I’m looking forward to the photos. 😊

I was lucky enough to be celebrant for Dane and Hannah a couple of weeks ago at a beautiful spot in Mount Crawford Forest. It was an unseasonably cold day for October, but that didn’t detract from the joy and love. Thanks Hannah and Dane for including me in your day.

Lovely work by Rhiannon Miller Video Production - this captures the joy of Frances and Devin's celebrations beautifully.

I had the pleasure of teaching Beth as a Drama student at Banksia Park International High so was very excited when she asked me to be her celebrant. It was wonderful to meet Jarrad, the man she has chosen to spend her life with, and to be part of their day in their beautiful garden. It was also fun catching up with a few ex-students!

My first wedding since the arrival of COVID 19 back in March was to be in a park on a glorious spring day, but with a predicted temperature of 13 degrees, rain, hail, and potential snow there was a last minute change of venue. Big thank you to “The Gully Public House and Garden” at Tea Tree Gully for allowing us to move into their Atrium in front of a lovely fire, and to Gary and Suzi for choosing me to be part of their day. They were so easy to work with, their ceremony was relaxed and it was a delight to spend time with them and their families. A lovely return to weddings.

Been pretty quiet on the wedding front with all the restrictions, but this brought to mind all of the possible things that can disrupt a wedding and that we celebrants try to plan for. Love their solution!

For Saturday’s wedding I was “roadie” for fellow celebrant Bron Spartalis. It began with a Hindu ceremony followed by a civil ceremony with Bron officiating, all held in the Shri Ganesha Temple at Oaklands Park. What a colourful and interesting event - it had ritual, laughter, tears... Thanks to Iain and Suchitra for allowing us to be involved.

Victoria and Antony’s wedding was my last for 2019 and it was a very relaxed ceremony under the most amazing apricot tree in their backyard. The weather was perfect and there was laughter, tears and two beautiful readings - one from Victoria’s sister and the other from Antony’s daughter.
And after the ceremony everything was quickly rearranged to create a fantastic party venue.
Great Boho styling by Old Refinery at Blackwood as well!
