I got my start there too!

Dance Theater Workshop began in choreographer Jeff Duncan's loft space, but the community that formed within that makeshift performing and rehearsal space soon coagulated and capitalized on other opportunities. In 1968, a group of artists undertook their fall season at the Riverside Church in New York.

Learn more about Dance Theater Workshop, and the artists and dancers that got their start in the storied space at our exhibition, open through Sep 13.

Because of canceled performances this spring, our dancers are in need. Our company’s income is primarily from projects and touring. Please help with a donation if you are able. The New York Baroque Dance Company appreciates your support.

Leading historical dance into the future with groundbreaking HIP (historically informed practice) productions and neo-baroque creations, we also offer classes and workshops to professionals and to the general public, inspiring lives with the profound beauty of the Baroque.

The NYBDC is a producer in addition to being “dancers for hire.” Our workshops and collaborations with organizations such as Philharmonia Baroque (above photo with NYBDC) allow productions of operas and ballets to occur. Access to our costumes, props, choreographies, stagings, research, etc. ease the burden for others who use our resources for their own Baroque projects in collaboration with the NYBDC.
