Just like our athletes, it’s not always easy for us coaches to get up and moving for early morning weights… but when you walk in and see 15 athletes already there, ready to work, your whole morning changes.

While we still have room to grow, this has quietly been our best-attended summer in years—by both athletes and coaches.

Huge shoutout to our core group for consistently showing up, pushing themselves, and being willing to try new techniques and lifts. You’re setting the standard.

We have the most student-athletes and coaches signed up that I can remember—thank you all for stepping up! Our student-athletes always impress during this event, and tomorrow will be no different.

The weight room opens back up this week! Just a reminder that for July, we’re on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday schedule.

📌 No session tomorrow (7/7) due to the South Newton extra moratorium day.

🕡 Start time: 6:30 AM

Weight Room Dates:
• July 8 & 10
• July 14 (& 6:30 PM), July 15 & 17
• July 21 (& 6:30 PM), July 22 & 24

South Newton Strength & Conditioning – Mid-Summer Check-In

As we wrap up the first half of our summer strength and conditioning program, coaches would like to congratulate all the athletes who have participated so far. Just stepping into the weight room this summer is an accomplishment that already sets you apart from the average athlete. Your commitment to getting better is noticed and appreciated.

We would especially like to recognize a few athletes who have shown outstanding consistency and have made time for self-improvement despite their busy summer schedules—positively impacting both themselves and South Newton athletics as a whole.

We’re proud of the work being done so far—but we’re only halfway there. The second half of summer is your opportunity to finish strong and build momentum for the upcoming season.

If you’re planning to participate in a fall sport, make sure you get your physical scheduled and completed as soon as possible.

🛑 No physical = No practice

The IHSAA requires a minimum number of practices before you’re eligible to compete in games, matches, or meets. Don’t let paperwork keep you off the field or court!

💥 Summer Strength, Speed & Explosion Training Update 💥

We just wrapped up Week 3 of summer training, and we’re seeing some serious progress from our athletes who continue to show up and put in the work. Strength, speed, and confidence are building💪🔥

This summer has been one of the best in terms of athlete representation across multiple sports programs at South Newton — and we’ve even had several coaches in the weight room working alongside and supporting our athletes. That kind of camaraderie and commitment builds the athletic culture we want here — where athletes and coaches push, encourage, and show up for each other.

Lifting weights is one of the most beneficial things you can do to improve athletic performance — no matter your sport. It boosts strength, power, speed, confidence, and helps prevent injuries.

There’s still time to make this summer count — but you have to make the choice to show up. Champions aren’t born — they’re built in the weight room.

Choose Your Hard 💪

Showing up for workouts all summer isn’t easy. The lifts are tough. The reps are heavy. The early mornings test your mindset.

But here’s the truth: you get to choose your hard.

Skipping workouts? That’s hard too — when the season comes and you’re not ready.
Falling behind your competition? That’s hard.
Watching someone else take your spot? That’s hard.

So choose the hard that makes you better.
Choose the hard that builds strength, confidence, and resilience.
Choose the hard that your future self will thank you for.

We’re proud of those putting in the work this summer — it’s not supposed to be easy. Growth never is.

🔥 Week 1 of Summer Workouts is in the Books! 🔥

We kicked off the summer strong with 48 athletes showing up, working hard, and setting the tone for what's possible. At South Newton, we believe that showing up consistently doesn’t just build better athletes—it builds a stronger school and community.

By the Numbers:
👟 37 Female Athletes | 11 Male Athletes
✅ 12 Seniors
✅ 11 Juniors
✅ 8 Sophomores
✅ 13 Freshmen
✅ 4 Middle School/Elementary Athletes

We currently have 131+ returning athletes from last year’s rosters. That means we’re seeing about 37% participation so far.

Just show up. Put in the work. Be consistent.
