AIRCOOLED CAMPOUT 2025

After taking a year out in 2024 after our move ‘Up North’ we are back for 2025 with our next Aircooled Campout, We have found a new location at the Lancashire Mining Museum with easy access from the Motorway network.��The Museum has restored the 3,300 hp twin tandem compound steam winding engine and this will be running on the Sunday of the campout (We might be able to get it running on the Saturday as well for additional funds) The train ride on site will also be open on the Sunday, for more details about the museum please visit their site: https://lancashireminingmuseum.org/

This event is based on the successful formula of the Earlybay & Aircooled Campouts we have run for the last few years and we would like to stress this is not a commercial venture to make money, its all about getting owners of aircooled vehicles together for a weekend. Camping is for Aircooled Vehicles only.

You will be able to arrive anytime from Friday lunchtime onwards find a spot in the Field, pitch up and meet people you have spoken to from forums/facebook and make some new friends, talk aircooled vehicles and generally have a good time.

As in previous years we will supply a large communal BBQ for everyone to use on the Friday/Saturday night but would ask you bring your own food and some charcoal to share.

There is a local pub within walking distance and theres a few supermarkets a short drive away. There is also direct access to the Bridgewater Canal for local walk etc and route to the pub (The Boat Inn).
�There are no traders or food stalls on site so you need to bring all you need to eat and drink with you,

You are more than welcome to bring spares you may have for sale to try and sell them on, all i would say is if you can help another owner out with a part to get their vehicle back on the road then lets keep prices sensible :)�

Aircooled Academy - JUNE 2025 Date Added�

Further to our announcement a few week that we will now be offering our GET TO KNOW YOUR AIRCOOLED VW (our old Level 1 course) for FREE, yes thats right FREE, (all we ask is a £4.95 admin fee) the first of these courses took place a week ago and was very well received with people travelling from Kent & Edinburgh to attend, the second course in April booked up very quickly so we have now added another date in June.�

For those that want a more ‘hands On’ approach then our MAINTAINING YOUR AIRCOOLED VW (our old Level 2 Course) is the course for you, we will be charging for this course and based on feedback have added additional content. We’ve taken some time to sit and reflect on our course offerings and have decided that for 2025 we are going to be making some changes not only to the course content but also to how we charge for them.

We feel its time to give ‘Something Back’ and with this in mind our we will now be offering our GET TO KNOW YOUR AIRCOOLED VW (our old Level 1 course) for FREE, yes thats right FREE, all we ask for is a small admin fee for the course of £4.95 to cover food, drink and handouts.

So after taking a year out in 2024 after our move ‘Up North’ we are back for 2025 with our next Aircooled Campout, We have found a new location at the Lancashire Mining Museum with easy access from the Motorway network.��It’s not a campsite as such but the Museum which is a registered charity and are raising funds to maintain/restore the headgear has a large field behind the Museum which will be the site for our Campout.��

Level 1 Course - Saturday 22nd June 2024

Well we were not expecting that but our first Level 1 Course in 2024 sold out in less than a week so we’ve added another date from our new location in Bolton, Lancashire on Saturday 22nd June. The Level 1 course is our ‘Introduction to Aircooled Vehicles’ and is suitable for new owners as well as people who have owned their vehicle for a few years.

In addition and after a few requests we’ve added a Level 2 Course to the Calendar and this will be held on Saturday 13th July, this is a follow on course to our successful Level 1 course and is aimed at those looking to maintain their own aircooled vehicle, this is very much a hands on course and is limited to 6 people. This course looks at Engine tuning, electrical fault finding as well was maintenance of brakes & steering components.�

We are pleased to announce that we will be running our first Level 1 Course from our new location in Bolton, Lancashire on Saturday 11th May. Our new location is based out a Farmhouse dating back to the 1650’s , renovation work is ongoing but we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to get ready to not only run the workshops but also take in workshop bookings as well. The Level 1 course is our ‘Introduction to Aircooled Vehicles’ and is suitable for new owners as well as people who have owned their vehicle for a few years.�
Having run nearly 50 courses since 2016 we are constantly evolved the content based on what attendees want to learn and we will continue to adopt this approach, as previously the course will run from 10am until 4-4.30pm with a break for lunch which we provide, in addition to refreshments that are provided throughout the day. There’s no need to bring your own aircooled vehicle but you are more than welcome to.��
We will be announcing a date for our Level 2 course which follows on from the Level 1 very shortly.

Aircooled Campout 2024 Update
We have looked at the dates for this year and it appears to be a really busy show season with everything back in full swing.
With this in mind we have taken the difficult decision NOT to run the Aircooled Campout in 2024 as we don't feel this would be fair on FirTrees who have been so good to us over the years and we are sure they could generate better revenue then we could provide over that weekend.
We have never run the event to make a profit but to put something back to the Aircooled community and to cover our costs and some years its actually cost us money to run the event and with our move 'Up North' our own costs have increased and we cannot continue as we have been.
We would like to wish all our supporters over the last few years a great show season ahead and hope to catch you at a show or in a field somewhere for a few beers.
We are actively on the lookout for a similar venue in the North West.

So its been a while since we last posted, its been a busy time over the last few months trying to get the new (old) house sorted (still nowhere near ready) but its time to look at the annual Aircooled Campout and to see whether theres enough interest for us to run it again this year.

The dates are booked in at Fir Trees Campsite at Warmington for the 5th-7th July 2024 but we really want to ensure theres the demand in what is now a very busy show Calendar.

Pricing is likely to remain close to what it was last year and if we go ahead how many of you are likely to come, the reason for asking is thats its only fair on the campsite to let them know whether we are likely to fill the space again to make it worthwhile for them as they close the site down for that weekend.

A huge thank you to all those that came to the Aircooled Campout at Banbury this weekend, as usual the weather could have been better but at least it stayed dry on the Saturday and we had a very pleasant day and evening.
Big thanks to Karle for spinning the tunes and Sparky, Matt, Jo, Steve & Dave that helped us over the weekend with the structure and packing away etc.
Feel free to post your images on the page but heres a few I took over the weekend.
We've got a date pencilled for next year which is the 5-7th July 2024 again at Fir Trees but are looking to create another event further north once we can find a venue.
