Robot Bennett How many people do you know who take up DJing in their late 60s? How many of these play hard, dark and deep techno? And how many are actually really good?

The answer is one – Robot Bennett. Robot Bennett – “Book me before I die”

The Robot is a wonderful, incredible anomaly. His love of electronic music stretches back to the early 90’s, when he tasted first hand the fabled golden era of techno clubs in Berlin where he has lived since 1982. He was at the Love Parade. He danced in the warehouses and basements, revelled at the festivals, and absorbed a

ll of this influence from one side of the equation. A lifelong musician, he balanced his passion alongside a career as a body therapist and yoga teacher. During a group session he was playing one of his own techno mixes, and a well-known DJ and club promoter just happened to be part of the group. The promoter was so impressed by his selections that he suggested he try his hand at DJ’ing. It was the spark that lit the bonfire. Soon after, Robot started using his Ableton Live programme for mixing techno. He picked up an APC 40 Mk II controller and he was off. Within no time he had his first booking, in the hallowed splendour of the Hamma Halle at Sisyphos no less. More bookings followed for esteemed Berlin institutions like Beate Uwe, Gretchen, Jonny Knüppel, Keller, Mensch Meier, Rummelsbucht, Burg Schnabel as well as Moloch in Hamburg. He also played at the Sa Terza Metari festival 2018 in Sardinia. To go from being a long-time techno enthusiast to a working techno DJ in the space of a year when you’re in your late 60’s is something special. Now that Robot Bennett is hungry for more. He recently celebrated his 72nd birthday, but far from slowing down, he wants to speed up. He knows that time is limited and life isn’t eternal, so he wants to DJ as much as he can. He isn’t going to be around for too much longer, so you should book him now and add diversity to your DJ line-up – before it’s too late! For bookings contact: [email protected]

Add a hypnotic kick to a whispered desert wind –
blending the rhythm of a heartbeat remembering its origin with a sparkling snap of snare and hat.

Rob doesn’t just play music –
he weaves timelines.
He traverses continents,
letting ancient rhythms speak through modern machines.

His sound is where Menace meets Magick,
where Fable flirts with the Future,
and where the dancefloor becomes a place of sacred remembrance.

You don’t just hear it. You feel it.
In your belly, in your spine, in the space between your thoughts.

🌀 Want to know what that sounds like?
Come dance.
Come listen.
Come remember.

Rob’s favourite quote.

Also known as: “How to stay grounded, impartial and serene while so many others are busy being someone.”

The stone is perfect, solid presence - beyond ego - pure essence.

Where are you these days – storks, snakes or stone?

🦆The recording of my early morning Easter Monday set in the hammahalle, Sisyphos is now posted on SoundCloud. That it all worked out is hard to believe, feels like a small miracle. Find the full explanation on SoundCloud.

There was a very welcoming large crowd in the hammahalle at Sisyphos on Easter Monday morning. Setting up was easy – my friend Martin was artist care. He’s one of the best and very helpful. But when h

Sisyphos is full of joy; in the never ending dance on the mountain rolling that rock and rocking that roll up, down and round again. Carrying the bane of the constant dance, the levity of surreal vision, liminal spacing with freedom to dream – expressive creativity or creative expression.

Good news, dear ducklings!
I will play the closing set in the Hammahalle at Sisyphos on 21st April, Easter Monday morning 7 - 10am.
Yes, that’s the magic hour when night meets light… and I’m pretty pleased (as you can well imagine).
Expect a set that moves from ecstatic to deep – somewhat hypnotic, rooted in bass – produced from the heart.
Dance like it matters.
Why? Because it does.
See you in Val HALLE with THOR.

‘Book me before I die.’ –Not just a slogan - an invitation.

I am Robot Bennett. Born in South Africa in 1949.
In Berlin since 1982. Techno DJ since 2015.
Music has always been my language.
I see dancing as healing.
DJ’ing can help expand consciousness through deep states of trance.
Trance can be a key to healing and transformation.
Techno parties are shamanic rituals because rhythmic music is medicine.

🎵 From baroque to bass. From jazz to kick drum.
🌍 From South Africa to techno clubs and festivals (Sisyphos, Garbicz, Nation of Gondwana,
Bucht der Träumer, Moloch, Jonny Knüppel, Rummelsbucht, Mensch Meier, Fusion)
🌀From body therapy to trance dance.

My path began with folk, blues & guitar, led me through shamanism, yoga and body therapy – and into the clubs of this city.
I am an initiated sangoma, a South African traditional healer.
I am a DJ who combines techno with ancient rhythms and healing knowledge.

What do I do today?
My DJ sets are designed to be transcendental 🧘🏽‍♀️.
🌀 I facilitate Trance Dance and Techno Yoga workshops – to help people feel music, not just listen.

For me, a DJ set is a ceremony.
Dancing is not just movement. It is transformation.

Are you ready?
Tell me about your most intense dance experience.
