As a prelude to my video centred around chemises debuting on YouTube tomorrow, here's the ones I named as my favourites!

1. I affectionately dub my 'petal-sleeve' chemise. 1850s/60s style with wide skirt and what we would call now a 'boat' neckline. Pattern from 'Period Costume for Stage and Screen' by Jean Hunnisett.

2. Late 1800s combinations, featuring a split crotch and small cap sleeves. Pattern from 'Period Costume for Stage and Screen' by Jean Hunnisett.

3. Edwardian straight chemise, narrow (yet still surprisingly roomy) skirt and decorative yoke in front. Pattern from Truly Victorian Edwardian underwear pattern pack.

4. Edwardian evening combinations. They're evening combinations as the neckline is low and the day combinations come with ruffles to give that pigeon-breasted look. Split crotch and the ideal neckline to show off some pretty lace. Pattern from Truly Victorian Edwardian underwear pattern pack.

Teaser for my newest video: 'what I've learned from wearing chemises every day.'

I wrote the blog post before filming this video so while they are very similar I mention slightly different things in conversation than in writing. It turned out that my writing had more historical references and quotes and my video includes more tips and things I've learned personally.

Already up on my Patreon, or subscribe to my YouTube to be notified of the release next week!

This week's patreon blog post is about what I've learned from wearing chemises every day for roughly five years- then a video on the same theme will be posted tomorrow!

I go through historical techniques for keeping whites clean, as well as my own modern techniques and tips I've learned from the past. I also discuss construction techniques for making a chemise that will last as long as possible and my favourite chemises for everyday wear. If any of these topics interest you pop over to my Patreon, link in the comments or my story!

Working on altering my short stays patterns for larger sizes!

I'm opting for a more 'transitional' style with a long front busk and a few bones for more support. Those who have signed up to be product testers for me will receive a corset to try in the next couple of months- if you would like to take part, message me, the more the merrier when it comes to perfecting patterns!

I'll also be bringing the first mockups to Alton Regency Festival and the Jane Austen Festival in Bath for people to try on and let me know what they think. It's going to be a long process but so worth it to make a product that fits even more people 🥳
