A new profile pic and little peek at the painting I just finished šŸ‘€ And since Iā€™m posting a headshot, we might as well do a short intro, right?

šŸ‘‹ My name is Kacie, and Iā€™m an artist living just outside Austin, TX with my husband, daughter & pup. Large botanical oil paintings are my jam, and I love capturing their intricacies in thick brush strokes & bold coloršŸ’™

Iā€™ve been painting for 9 years now - 5 professionally, and donā€™t plan to stop anytime soon. I have a lot planned for this upcoming year, and Iā€™m so excited to have you along for the ride. Thanks for being here, friendsāœØ

Available nowšŸŒæ ā€œComing Homeā€ | 30x40ā€ oil painting on canvas in an unfinished walnut float frame

I was living in El Paso when I started this piece. Nostalgic for the all-encompassing trees I grew up with, I rifled through old photos finding the ones that felt the most magical. I was really drawn to the ones looking up - where the branches made beautiful patterns against the sky and dappled light danced on the ground.

Little did I know, we would end up spending the summer back home in Louisiana with our family. So I brought this painting a long, set up studio on the back porch, and finished the piece among the trees that inspired it.

The creation of this painting spanned 34 days, 1,115 miles, multiple afternoon thunderstorms and warm summer afternoons - I wouldnā€™t have it any other way.

Iā€™m just enjoying these paintings so much, I have no plans of stopping anytime soon. So to keep up with the momentum, Iā€™m going to gradually release this collection one painting at a time. This will allow me to continue creating while also making new work available to you. Iā€™m also really excited to tell the story of each piece when I share them with you each week.

ā€œComing Homeā€ | 30x40ā€ oil painting on canvas in walnut float frame - will be the first piece available this coming Tuesday, Aug. 13šŸ¤

ProgressāœØ popped this one in a walnut frame so I can start to imagine what the finished piece will look like. Iā€™m *loving* the colors and that little butterfly! I really enjoy how soft that part of the piece feels. So Iā€™m going back in with oils to build up some texture and soften some of the other lines too. Excited to show you more progress soon!

I decided to use acrylic for this piece (for no real reason other than just to switch up the process) and Iā€™m having so much fun. A switch in medium and a switch in color palette giving me aalll the happy vibesā˜€ļøāœØšŸŒ»

I spent the day laying down the first layers. I have some color correcting to do, but Iā€™m still so excited about where itā€™s goingšŸ¤—

Georgia and I have been working diligently on this piece this weekāœØswipe for a little progress updateāœØ

I had a few days this week where it seemed like I just forgot how to paint. I think today I finally pulled through the rut and began to make some more progress, and Iā€™m seeing lots of potential here. So Iā€™m excited!

Since this piece had a slightly more involved pattern, I decided to make the botanical patterns a little simpler - like silhouettes to represent the sun shining through the trees. What do we think so far?

Wanna totally make my day? If youā€™ve collected a print and/or original painting from my studio, Iā€™d love to see photos of them in your space! Seeing where the art ends up, among your daily life, in your colorful spaces & loving homes is one of *the most* rewarding parts of being an artist.
