今週PTWの来日でかなり盛り上がってるので、最後に彼らを観た時の昔の写真をシェアしようと思います。ちょうど10年前ですね。
当時は本当にフロリダから日本へ引っ越す途中でした。LAに立ち寄って、地元から引っ越してきた友達2人に会いに行ったんです。真ん中にいるやつは今でも親友の1人。左端にいるのはEricって名前なんですが、知ってる人はGhostemaneとして知ってるかもしれません。彼が有名になってからは連絡取ってないけど、本当に成功して嬉しく思ってます。
PTWは南フロリダ時代に何度も観てたんですが、そのタイミングでちょうどカリフォルニアを回る軽い再結成ツアーをやってたんです。オープニングはSTRIFEでした。「Nerdy」が始まった瞬間、俺ら3人とも完全に大暴れしてたのを覚えてます。
でも本当に、PTWは2000年代初頭の自分にとってめちゃくちゃ大きな影響を与えたバンドでした。そんな地元のヒーロー達を、今の自分のホームである日本のみんなに共有できるのが本当に嬉しいです。
There's a lot of hype around PTW coming to Japan this week, so I thought I'd share an old photo from the last time I saw them, which was exactly 10 years ago.
It was literally on my way moving from Florida to Japan. I stopped in LA to visit a couple homies that moved there from my hometown. One in the middle is still one of my closest friends. One on the far left is named Eric, but some of you might know him as Ghostemane. I haven't talked to him since he became famous, but so happy for the dude.
I had seen PTW so many times in South Florida, but they just happened to be having a slight reunion tour stopping in Cali whileIwasthere. STRIFE opened. I just remember the 3 of us went bananas when "Nerdy" came on.
But, yah. Band had a massive, massive impact on me in the early 2000s. I'm so amped to share my old hometown heroes with my new home in Japan.
