This email serves to request your kind support for our colleague Destini Edwards who was an active member of the National Secondary Students' Council as Secretary/PRO in the 2019-2020 Executive.
In April 2022, Destini Edwards was admitted to the University Hospital of the West Indies. After running a series of tests, she was diagnosed with stage 2b Osteosarcoma (bone cancer) In May 2022. Destini’s future was brilliant, her enthusiasm and passion were evident in every task she was a part of. Her dream of leading her school’s Lacrosse team as captain, ended abruptly, as her pain became unbearable. Her desire to pursue Surgical Medicine by meeting the University’s entry requirements became a challenge, as she spent her days studying through the pain and discomfort trying to ace her CAPE exams, which she bravely sat, while admitted to the hospital.
Destini’s cancer was aggressive and grew rapidly, and to date has transpired to stage 4 and high-risk detriment to her life as is. After multiple consultations with doctors islandwide, emergency surgery is needed, and a vast amount of donations.
