Advice from Tom about mobile phone photography:

"Thing is, you can't go wrong with any phone camera these days, as most of them have performance capabilities way beyond their human handlers.
So choose a phone, any phone, then learn a bit about photography. There's much to assimilate, from composition, exposure, landscapes, lighting, close-ups and portraiture. But most of all (are you listening?) be brave in your editing.
The best photographers are almost invariably the best editors. Learn the power of picture cropping, colour balancing, and without doubt, deleting. Can you imagine the mess the Sunday Times would be if it didn't have a good editor?
Take lots of pictures, no harm in that. Compliment your subjects and keep shooting. Then, in the quiet, delete any that you wouldn't have shown at the National Gallery with your name attached.

We're running another 6 week photography teach-in for beginners and improvers, starting on Friday 5 April 2019 @ 7:30 pm. Each Friday evening will be a 2hr slot, and the total cost for the whole course is £36.

"It's so hard to put your trust in a complete stranger so far ahead of your big day. But with Celia and Tom I am so glad we did.
They are a fantastic team. They made all our guests feel welcome and comfortable in front of the camera and were professional (yet friendly) throughout what must of been such a long day for them, as well as us!

These are frame grabs from movie footage shot last night at the Brentwood Movie Club, using our Sony mirrorless cameras. By shooting with wide aperture we get differential focus (blurry backgrounds) which has a dramatic and modern look.
