The snippet: For Caitlin, it wasn’t long before she realised that not only was Dom incredibly handsome, but no matter what life threw her way – he gave her the confidence and gusto to tackle it head on.

He loved her on all her good days, and even more so on the hard ones. He loved her for her perfections, and he loved her for the bits she’d always kept away from the world. In fact, he loved her in ways that she’d never been loved before.

And together, they share a life filled with the little moments of love; the ‘just because flowers’ the ‘I was thinking of you icecreams’ and the ‘thought this would make you laugh’ memes; every single day…

EXACTLY HOW YOU ARE [BALL PARK MUSIC]

“…That first facebook messenger video call, over gin and tonics, was one of the easiest conversations that either Jazz or Bryce had ever shared. For hours on end, chatter flowed, drinks replenished and big, bright grins filled the screens.

As the first gins were sipped, Bryce shared his love for the air force; the pride of coming from a long line of members; Jazz, her dedication to the medical profession; her career drive and the wild ride of reaching it.

As they slurped through the second; their close connections with family members and the values that they hold important. By the third gin; it was giggly. The adventures, the funny stories – the love of adventure, of good food and of music. And that in fact, by complete coincidence, just weeks earlier, before the lockdowns rolled in – they’d been belting out Ball Park Music’s Nice to be Alive; simultaneously at the same music festival. Totally unaware.

By the time their glasses were empty and their phone batteries were low – the next online date was organised. And neither Jasmine nor Bryce could contain the excitement.

Following Hamish Blake’s step by step cooking class, together – but in the comfort of their respective homes; Jasmine found herself laughing her way through the stirring and frying.

As she meticulously measured out the ingredients, following the instructions to a tee; Bryce added his own touch of Bryce flare.

An extra splash of this; a sprinkle of that. And a damn fine looking pasta for his efforts. But, Jasmine thought to herself, his pasta wasn’t the only thing looking good.

Because, hidden from his online profile was one of his greatest assests. And no, I’m not talking about his butt – which Jazz is also very fond of. I’m talking about the smile. The one that lights up his bright eyes; that made Jazz’s heart skip with excitement. The smile that took things from online cooking classes to a real-life covid-safe walk.“

“So, we’ll jump into our fairytale, right back at its humble beginnings.

Late 2022 at Wickham’s premier caffeine dealer – Dark Horse Espresso.

For Alecia it started out as a normal day. Arrive early, flick on the machine, prep the workspace and open the doors. She was effortless; tamping, frothing and pouring on repeat. A smile for her favourite tradies grabbing their fix on the way to site; a cute coo at the babies wriggling from the mother’s arms – a friendly chat with the regulars making their way to work.

And then, as if straight out of a classic rom com – the world around Alecia stopped – fading quickly to a blur. And all she could see was him.

Boden. Tall, calm vibe, nice hair, nicer legs.

Yep, this new-comer was VERY VERY handsome.

And Boden, the freshly minted Wickham local thanked his lucky stars. He had somehow managed to stumble across; and I quote; a suitably impressive coffee made by a suitably impressive barista.

As he walked out, keep cup in tow, sipping on his freshly poured large flat white, he thought to himself – well I’ll DEFINITELY be coming back to this coffee shop.

And so began the new morning ritual. Alecia, finding her way into Boden’s heart 8gms of beans at a time.

As Monday rolled into Friday, September into October Boden continued to ponder – was Alecia JUST providing a GREAT hospitality service, or was she genuinely interested in him.

But she knew. And so did the other regular customers who nudged each other and shared cheeky side eyes every time ‘suit boy’ walked in.

And so, after MONTHS of Boden coming in on a daily basis Alecia FINALLY worked up the courage to say those magic few words.

Your keep cup is disgusting.”

And now they’re married.

“Wow I am absolutely BLOWN AWAY by everything that Jaya is, embodies and delivers being a wedding celebrant and MC.

I have never experienced such an engaging, hilarious, joyful and love-filled ceremony and the wedding got to be my own

Jaya brought high levels of communication and details throughout the entirety of the process from booking in to our final hug at the end of the wedding night.

To be really honest I didn’t want her to leave us towards the end of the night because her energy is so warm, radiant and inviting. All our guests were asking for her name because they had never come across such an incredible celebrant.

I also really loved and appreciated that her management of timing at the reception and adapting the timing because of the wet weather before the reception was impeccable.

“And so today Lauren and Will aren’t walking into marriage – naïve and hopeful – because for almost five years, they’ve chosen each other—through the whirlwind of dating, the leaps into business and the starting of their beautiful family.

LIKE YOU [ILLY]

Off the back of Harmony Week celebrated in schools around the country, I wanted to share a little something that underpins everything I do as a celebrant.

INCLUSION
Nine years ago, my (now) husband and I began to plan our wedding. With this, came hours upon hours trawling through social media, pinterest and magazines.

And shockingly (or not really) there was almost NO representation of diversity in the wedding industry. I started to wonder, were people like me not worth celebrating?

While a lot has changed within in the industry since then, this experience has made me appreciate the power of inclusion and diversity in EVERYTHING that we do. An appreciation of the unique little touches that truly do make a wedding.

A bouquet made from blooms reminiscent of grandmother’s garden; a tower of honey jumbles baked by an uncle, in place of a cake; a first dance song pinched from a gig spent starry eyed - hand in hand; and tables named by the places that the couple fell head over heels.

For me, it’s the couples that do things a little differently; the traditional Hindu ceremony in the morning, followed by a saree-laden civil ceremony by twilight; the couple in their 70s that found love when they least expected it; and the burley father tearing up as his son marries the man of his dreams.

It’s the elopements in the ocean and the rave-inspired festival weddings.

But most importantly, it’s representing that fact that love looks a little different for every couple. That the meaning of weddings transcends trends and bucks fads.

So here’s to you, Harmony Day - and for all those small (and big people that’ve been inspired along the way.
