Walk Down the Aisle, Bog Cotton Style with Trevor (photographer) & Paula (celebrant)!

[B]IN THE PINK 💕
Trevor was thrilled to learn that my hot pink celebrant folder completed its final ceremony last month. He’s often mentioned how it can be a little distracting in photos, but honestly, looking at these shots, I think it adds a certain je ne sais quoi!!
Still, the era has come to a close and it was looking a little weather beaten!
Boring black leather for 2026 it is 🤣

At the start of October I jumped in my car and headed north to beautiful Arisaig to photograph Sîan and Fraser's family wedding at Borrodale House. Not only was I looking forward to the day because I got to visit one of my all-time favourite locations but also because Sîan and Fraser were bringing their beautiful dog Louis!
The late-in-the-year Autumn light subdues the soft colours so I edited just a few more black and white photographs than I might have done on a bright and sunny day. This kind of wintery light and moody scenery is absolutely perfect for a spot of monochrome photography. There's something about the stark, moody tones that captures the rugged beauty of the Highlands in a way colour sometimes can't—all texture and atmosphere. 📷

FOR BETTER OR VERSE 💍
Most couples get a bit weird around poetry, like it’s a bit too high-brow or too cringe or something, but there's something about a poem on a wedding day that hits different!
When Islay read one of Robbie Burns lesser-known gems to her love Jacob last month, it was just SO gorgeous! Short, but VERY sweet 'John Anderson, my Jo, John', is a love letter to growing old together and ridiculously beautiful.
Congratulations ❤️

A stunning adventure engagement photoshoot in Glen Etive, Scotland, for a couple who love the mountains but needed a more accessible wedding.

IT'S NEVER A FAIL AT BORRODALE 💍😍
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again. We reckon Borrodale House is the ultimate spot for a DIY micro-wedding or elopement, especially in the autumn and winter months. This ancient house is beyond beautiful and has more stories than your granny after a couple of sherries! Plus, you can wander to the shoreline in minutes, the grounds and colours are incredible and you even get the odd deer popping by to wish you well!
Sian & Fraser, you absolutely nailed your big day and we loved every minute of it. Congratulations ❤️

A PORTMANTEAU IN GLENCOE ✨🏔️
Trevor thought he was being absolutely hilarious when he blended Heather & Devan’s names into Heavan, but when you think about it, what better time to pull out a portmanteau than on your wedding day!
Especially when Heavan truly fits! The MacGregor Wives are proper couple goals and we had the best adventure elopement in heavenly Glencoe together! Congratulations 💍❤️

BRIDECHILLA 🍃👑
Move over, Bridezilla! Today was all about the effortlessly cool bridechilla, Cecilie, who brought the ultimate elopement energy! She arrived at the ceremony location, shook out her messy bun and slipped on a flower crown she made herself this morning. BABE ✨
Huge congratulations to Cecilie & Stefan, who tied the knot this afternoon in Roshven ❤️

A BLUSH(ing) BRIDE 🦩💍
Congratulations to Kirsty & Alasdair!! We love how Kirsty went all-in with dress, veil, flowers and trainers in the dreamiest blush pink! It was pure pink undertone perfection against the mossy greens, heathery browns and moody skies of the West Highlands.
Wishing these legends all the love and adventure as they start married life in Japan ❤️

BORA BORA OR MORAR 😍💍
The weather the day before AND after Marnie & Mark's elopement was dreadful, but in true Highland style, their big day delivered absolute perfection ☀️ On a separate note, it was our first time at this gorgeous wee croft house and with the most sensational secluded beach just footsteps from the cottage, we’re officially obsessed!

Who are we?
When photographer, Trevor Wilson, and Humanist Celebrant, Paula Wilkinson, met in 2018 at the wedding of Rebecca and Leigh at ancient Castle Tioram on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula, it was the beginning of an exciting new venture that has since taken them on a marrying mission across the Highlands of Scotland where they’ve been honoured to be involved in the creation of some seriously epic elopements!
It was the simplicity, beauty and romance of Rebecca and Leigh’s elopement to such a wild, wonderful and remote part of Scotland that captured both Trevor and Paula’s imagination and so it was decided that they would join forces and offer loved-up couples a bespoke, adventure elopement experience that would knock their socks off and so Bog Cotton Scottish Elopements was born!
Bog Cotton may sound like something you might flush down the toilet, but it’s actually a gloriously ethereal flower which grows out of peat bogs across the wilds of Scotland. Aside from the fact that the sight of thousands of white, fluffy Bog Cotton heads dotted across a windswept glen is incredible, the message behind something so beautiful having the ability to grow out of nothing but mud, is the perfect analogy to Trevor and Paula’s vision for their adventure elopements. Plus, if you stretch your imagination a little, Bog Cotton even looks like tiny veiled faerie brides!
So if you’re looking to elope to the Scottish wilderness for a one-of-a-kind micro wedding, then look no further. Paula and Trevor will use their extensive knowledge of Scotland to find your perfect ceremony location. By getting to know your preferred landscape, how adventurous you’re willing to get, the number of guests attending as well a plethora of other factors, they can determine the best possible location and timeline for your big day.
Trevor is based near Glasgow and has twenty years experience as a wedding and travel photographer and has captured the magic at hundreds of elopements and weddings all over Scotland throughout his career. Specialising is a more informal documentary style of photography he is perfectly suited to capturing your elopement for you, no matter where you choose to have it or what happens on the day. He definitely prefers to photograph more relaxed and intimate weddings and feels that you can really focus on the important parts of a wedding ceremony that way. Absolutely loving the Scottish wilderness Trevor is more than happy to work with you to help choose a location that will add that extra bit of beauty to your photographs whilst keeping the adventurous aspect at a comfortable level for you.
Paula lives in the western Highlands and trained as a Celebrant with Fuze Ceremonies and now represents the company across the Highlands and Islands. Having graduated with first class honours in English Literature and Journalism, she loves the creative element of writing and delivering wedding scripts. Paula firmly believes that no matter what your journey as a couple, it is a one of a kind love story and she is eager to tell the tale! Due to her affiliation with Fuze Ceremonies, Paula is fully insured and benefits from the Fuze “back-up” promise, so even if she is struck down by illness on the morning of your big day, there’s a full back-up procedure in place to assure your big day can still go ahead.
Both Trevor and Paula are mildly obsessed, okay MASSIVELY obsessed, with mega adventurous couples and will climb mountains, kayak into the middle of lochs or stand on a beach in a storm to capture the perfect moment to ensure your memories from your big day will never be forgotten. They’re also obsessed with dogs at weddings!
