15 years….. an honour and privilege to be your mum and to be loved by you unconditionally. The words I love you can never fully encompass the depth of how much I love you and what you mean to me, to us. Mya maa, you poured your love into each one of us , never stopping or hesitating, forever faithful and always happy and content to be by our side.

Run pain free my sweet child. May the fridges in heaven be filled with all your favourite nummies, may you get to play fetch to your hearts content. And then when you are resting may you be petted and kissed and cuddled for as long as you want.

My eyes will forever look for you. My heart and life will never be the same again but my soul knows where to find you. Loving you changed my life and I will carry this with me for the rest of my life.

My squishy face, my special girl, my little paddle pop stick, my squishy teddy bear….mummy, daddy, aayaa and baby love you nunnu.

Simplicity is key.

The cake brief was simple- a simple cake that highlights what means the most for the cleint as seen through the eyes of her family. A subtle play with textures and different mediums.

The cake:
Pink velvet cake: Moorish vanilla cake layered with raspberry compote Swiss buttercream and iced with white chocolate ganache.

and if you met Nas and Tom you'd see that in action!

I was so excited when Nas contacted me last year wanting me to create her wedding cake. And when Tom and Nas came in for a consultation I could see how they envisioned they big day to be - surrounded with love . They met and worked together as journalists for The ABC newsroom. "To plan a wedding without vision, she called on aspects of other people’s weddings that she liked, and then put her own twist on them. “Unlike most brides, I didn’t have the luxury of being able to look through wedding magazines or Instagram,” she explains. “I liked the taste of one friend’s wedding cake so used the same company. The band that played at our wedding was also one I fell in love with at a cousin’s reception a few years back. Using friends and family to help with the finer details like making bridesmaids gowns was a dream because they knew my style and I trusted them to do a beautiful job.”
Nas like the idea of a delicious cake and so wanted a buttercream finish for the cake but Tom liked the formal feel to carried to the cake and so wanted the finish to be fondant. And that's exactly what they got - a two-tier that combined both their finishes. The bottom tier had a fondant finish and the top a semi-naked swiss buttercream finish. Both tiers brought together with beautiful and sweet-smelling blossoms, something Nas could enjoy as well.

The night before the wedding I received a text from Nas mentioning that Vogue Australia might feature their wedding and here it is, so befitting their celebration.

Congratulations once again dear Nas and Tom. It was an absolute pleasure working with you on your wedding cake.

Nas Campanella married Thomas Oriti in a charming Sydney wedding.
