Beautiful handmade paper flowers

Paper has its advantages lol.

The first paper flowers I ever made were for my own wedding, 7 years ago! My mother kept some, as well as a few natural flower bouquets from the ceremony, and we took them out this weekend.

Heavy with dust, I wiped the handmade flowers down with a towel, and they are just as bright as the summer of 2015!! I'm actually a little surprised.

The real flowers, well, not so much lol. They were dropping petals and spreading fluff everywhere and had to be tossed. 😞

Paper Boutonnieres!

It's been a slow year for me here at Paper Dreams! Covid times has me keeping the kiddos at home, and keeping those kids in online school changed the daily focus. Lots of you parents probably know what I mean 😜

BUT, a friend of mine is getting married this summer, and asked if I could make flowers for her wedding! It's always such an honour when people think of me, and trust me enough to help make their day special! 🥰 This is the sixth wedding I've made decor for, and it never gets old.

Here are three of the rose boutonnieres I finished for her-- two singles, and one double. I can't wait to see how they look pinned to their new owners!!

Oh my!
Just finishing up a commission that came in a while ago-- and it needs some of these cuties.

Still alive and kicking over here! Lots of life disruptions for everyone I'm assuming- surprisingly, kids make it harder to get done! Who would have think? Lol.

Sometimes I dream in paper.

Speaking of websites, the usual paperdreamsflorist.ca will be down for a month or so; my domain name came due, but the payment wasn't set to auto 🥺..by the time I realized (2 weeks late) they required 10x the normal amount to reinstate it.🤦‍♀️ It'sa shakedown I tells ya! The default link here is correct though, and will suffice while I wait.

My little apprentice 😍

My son stayed up last night to hang out with me, and try his hand at floral arranging, but wound up learning to make this orange flower. He fell in love with a white version, so I taught him to make his own. Still needs practice, but it turned out pretty cute!

I'll have to post the lovely bouquets he put together with random flowers from my desk. Even had the opportunity to teach some art concepts, like repetition and colour theory😂. Reminds me how I'd love to get back in the classroom one of these days.

Nothin' I like better than the golden hour each evening. I don't worship the sun, but my heart is rarely fuller than when I'm sun bathing like a cat in front of a window 😄. Outside is cool too.

*Improving on the ranunculus, but not quite there yet...

It's not spring yet, but "I can feel it, coming in the air" this afternoooon lol.

Is there a flower you'd like to see me try?

Spending a fair bit of time designing new flowers, and trying to come up with cost effective filler florals/greenery. Tell you what-- this isn't it 😆 It takes 3x longer than I'd like, to keep the leaves sturdy with wire, and add detail (still needs perfecting, I know.) Ferns still beat these by a mile.🤷‍♀️

Rarely have I seen a moment, where a flower wasn't welcome. They're just chock fulla feelings💖

This was my 3rd attempt at a ranunculus, which are hard to do without crepe paper I've found, due to their curvy ➰ nature. Didn't turn out too bad! And far less tedious than the first ways I tried. There are probably 60 petals on this flower.. to do them individually🤦‍♀️
